There's nothing that can make even the most frequent business traveler feel trapped and inconvenient than a long-haul flight. If you fly for both business and pleasure from time to time, you'll surely understand why. You may be flying business class but still, you have to sit for more than 10 hours straight (and maybe catch some sleep within that period) and we all know how you can get a lot of things done with that amount of time if you're on land. For this reason, we've rounded up six tips to help you survive a long-haul flight and stay productive even when you're up in the air.

1. Select the plane you're boarding wisely.

You don't want to spend ten hours or more reclining in your seat. For this reason, it only makes sense to be onboard a plane with flat-bed services so make sure to inquire from your carrier before you say yes. This will help you catch quality sleep even if you're on a long-haul flight. This way, when you get up, you'll feel renewed and energized and you can attend to all the business matters needing your attention even while you're flying.

2. Keep yourself entertained.

Make sure your smartphone, tablet, or laptop is loaded up with songs which help you sleep or stay awake (depending on what your body needs). Download all the apps you think will help you get some relaxation time so you can use them when you need to take a break from working on your laptop. If you're more into tangible books, then bring a light and paperback edition of your favorite read.

3. Order a special meal.

If you want to be the first flier to be served a meal, the key is to request for a special one. This way, you get to eat your food first and you get to sleep the soonest time possible.

4. Wear comfortable but classy clothes.

No, you don't have to look like an A-list celebrity but you at least need to put an effort to look decent. So whichever clothing it is that you feel will help you look smart while making it easier for you to work while traveling, wear that. You can also bring a pashmina or jacket to keep you warm and keep you focused on what you needed to do.

5. Pack a long-haul flight survival kit in your carry-on.

There are small items you can't function that you have to bring to help make your long-haul flight bearable. It can vary between travelers but eye mask, ear plugs, lip balm, toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash are the top must-haves. You'll also thank yourself later if you bring a neck pillow.

6. Request for a window seat.

If you're seated beside the window, there will be lesser chances of you getting bumped by people passing by. Thus, you'll be able to focus on your work more. When you get tired, you'll also have a wall to rest your head to.

Long-haul flights can be the worst nightmare you'll face as a frequent traveler but when you have enough preparation and you carry the right things with you, you'll be able to enjoy it while staying productive.

Happy flying!
