Are you reliving the same endless hurtful memories, have your past hurts begun to make decisions for you? Now is the time for us to live in wholeness by releasing ourselves from past pain with the gift of forgiveness. So I get it, it's hard to forgive people when your hurt runs deep. However, we're talking necessity. Forgiveness is truly needed in order for us to move forward!

Sometimes we believe that our past no longer effects our present or our future, but circumstances have a way of arising triggering our past huts to resurface. I challenge you today to seek forgiveness as a gift you give to yourself. When we hold on to past hurts and pain, we cradle that pain which takes on our likeness.

So the question is how do we achieve this measure? We must first forgive ourselves for allowing that pain to fester and become a part of us. Let's tell ourselves, I forgive myself for allowing (fill in the blank) to take over my being. I no longer desire the burden that comes along with this pain. Sincerely walk away from the situation at this point.

Next, if possible, talk to the person who has caused the pain in a calm manner, releasing them from the transgression they have caused. Yes, release them from their trespassing, because you imprison yourself when you hold others hostage from forgiveness. We will find in life, people who hurt us will move on with their lives while we are still stuck in the emotionally unhealthy space of bitterness.

Lastly, never revisit the circumstance that has caused you such deep rooted pain after it has been resolved, unless it is used to empower someone else to move forward from their pain. Remember that forgiveness does not mean involvement... We can evolve and move on totally if that is what brings the peace that we need. Removing the pain from our lives and replacing it with joy is the equivalent of finding gold under the ground. Treasure it and protect it, it's priceless!
