The largest festival of African-American dance and culture in the nation will be featuring dance companies from throughout the African Diaspora this weekend. This year's edition celebrates Brazil, tracing the transatlantic roots of the country's vibrant music and dance traditions. This will be the final year that Baba Chuck Davis will lead the festival as Artistic Director and will be headlined by Afro-Brazilian dance troupe Balé Folclórico da Bahia.

The DanceAfrica outdoor bazaar brings together thousands of people from across the city for this vibrant cultural experience. Stop by this weekend and take in the amazing afros and natural hairstyles while shopping in the heart of downtown Brooklyn with vendors selling everything from jewelry, african fabrics, and tasty cultural dishes from the African diaspora. This is a free event that's part of the larger DanceAfrica celebration held annually.

3. EVERYDAY AFRIQUE

OkayAfrica is teaming up with Everyday People and South African restaurant Madiba for a day party at Output Rooftop in Williamsburg to celebrate African Liberation Day and Memorial Day.
Everyday People resident DJs DJ Moma and DJ Rich Knight will team up with Electrafrique hosts DJ Cortega and DJ Underdog, as well as Brooklyn-based producer Kashaka for an entire day of feel good rooftop vibes.
