How to Wear That Piece That Goes With Nothing

The last few seasons have been filled with funky hats, big jewelry and embellished jackets. If you are anything like me, then you have at least one of these pieces hanging around unused.

Pieces that looked amazing in the magazine/on the hanger/on that fashion blogger, but in reality, seem to go with absolutely nothing. Our last two looks have some such items that we love, but have been parked unused in my closet. So, as I dusted them off, I thought about why I adore the statement jewelry, my veiled top hat and pearl vintage jacket.

• For those statement necklaces and earrings we all have, but don't usually wear, pair them (one of them) with the grey tee, boyfriend jeans and pumps or with the simple dress and pumps.
• For that embellished jacket that goes with nothing but is great on the hanger, throw it over your shoulders in the above outfit minus the jewelry. Similar to our look here.
• For those wild shoes that you never wear, throw them on with the simple dress, like we did here. Or throw them on with the boyfriend jeans and t-shirt and the bomber over your shoulders.
• You can add a hat to either of these outfits. In this photoshoot look I wore a sweater dress, bold necklace and top hat. In reality, to a recent event, I wore my beloved top hat with a simple dress, a fuzzy jacket and pumps.
