Paris: The City of Light... Always

Today, I ask that we all stay in a place of LOVE. Send love and light to the souls who gave their lives to teach us lessons of community and connectivity. Send love and gratitude to the souls still on Earth who lost loved ones and are now in mourning.

In light of the recent Paris attacks, I feel called to write this post...

I woke up this morning feeling the heavy hearts of everyone all over the world. I wasn't going to post a blog today, but I suddenly felt compelled to write about how we are all connected, especially on a day like today.

Like with any tragedy is very easy for us to focus on the brutal images and get caught up in media-induced fear. But this only adds to the fear and anxiety of our collective consciousness. Instead, I urge you to focus your energy on the lessons and the gifts.

It is understandable that many of us have a hard time believing that anything positive could come out of such a terrible experience, but I ask you to bear with me for a moment.

Think back to the moments AFTER the 9/11 attacks -- the days and weeks when we came together as a country, as a world -- in LOVE. I have never experienced such a feeling of community as I did at that time. You could FEEL the energy everywhere you went. Suddenly, everyone and everything was palpably connected. Catastrophe brings people together, reminding us of what is truly important -- love, community, connectivity, spirit, compassion, truth, family, faith, and perseverance.

Today, we have even more global connectivity with Twitter and Facebook as our tools. Shortly after the Paris attacks, strangers came to the rescue of perfect strangers on social media to offer places to stay. Facebook even allows us to check in as "safe" so that friends and loved ones are notified quickly. We are instantly connected through the Internet...

But the truth is -- we are all connected ALL THE TIME. Every feeling, every thought -- good or bad -- adds to our collective consciousness.

We all experience this connectivity when we think about someone and suddenly they call. Or when we walk into a room and feel anxious and can't figure out why. But then later, we learn that someone was in a bad mood or something bad had just happened. If we learn to tune into our feelings, we can even predict when something good or bad is about to happen.

Now take this to a global consciousness level. Imagine millions of people feeling sad or anxious or fearful. WE will inadvertently feel this way too and we may not even know why.

So today, I ask that we all stay in a place of LOVE. Send love and light to the souls who gave their lives to teach us lessons of community and connectivity. Send love and gratitude to the souls still on Earth who lost loved ones and are now in mourning. And send love and light to humanity as a whole -- as we move forward towards a future of higher consciousness. Today, I choose love over fear. I hope you'll do the same.

For the highest good...
