Andrew Vera -- You are an American hero who has served and protected this country and it's people. I agree with your sentiments completely and "thank you for your service" which I'm sure you've heard uttered, simply does not seem to be enough...but I will thank you just the same.

(quote from article/Vera):
'I said, 'Yeah, right, you say you want American Values back in the American Family, then where were you, when they booed the gay soldier during the last debate,'" Vera emailed in response to Patch questions. "Let's get real. As an Iraq Veteran, I think it's pitiful."

"The Party of No" only speaks of "values", "chriistian-hood", "patriotism", "love of flag and country" -- it's only words to them and their utterances are meaningless as you witnessed.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Some folks don't practice their so-called principles... they just TALK.

God bless you Andrew -- and God bless America.

I'm sorry. Where are all the GOP posters that love to comment how we Democrats can't stand any opposition and how we fear differentiation?

Hmmmm, we're not escorting out and man-handling our opponents.

Time to not let the "mouthy minority" teabaggingrepublicans own the discourse anymore. Those of us who care about equal rights, children not going to bed hungry, the unemployed being demonized by state governments who only further religious social agendas and general corruption of our government. We are the 99% and we don't have to shut up and take it any more. Work for the election of humane and intellegent people to congress.

Exactly, how many of the people on the stage served in the military? Anyone? Anyone? and yet they know exactly how soldiers think and should act.

Ron Paul.

The only one talking about bringing them all home. The only one that cares about their families and how not only how the soldiers have suffered for no reason, but the one they love as well.

The only candidate that has even discussed the rising rate of suicide among our military that has now surpassed the civilian rate. Since 2001 almost 2300 " active duty " personnel have taken their lives. That's an average of one every 36 hours and doesn't count the IIR's an other non-active duty personnel.

They deserve far more than either side is acknowledging but at least Ron Paul is putting the truth out there for all of those, like him, that wear, or have worn, our nations uniform.

And Romney's sons haven't been sworn in either. As commander in chief, one of his primary jobs is sending us and our sons & daughters into a fighting war, where you may or may not return. Would he be just as willing, to send his own kids into battle?

I'm glad someone did speak up. But I hope every one remembers the response of the Repub candidates when:
People applauded executions.
Someone from the audience yelled "Let him die".
people booed the gay soldier.

In each instance the candidates ALL issued the same response:
DEAD SILENCE.
And you will still see Repub defendants bringing up Rev. Wright, after all these years.
12:00 PM on 10/13/2011
What the right-wing fringe forget ' is the Rev. Wright served his ''country", and has earned the right to speak, where the coward's of the country have yet to do the same.

Kudos to Andrew Vera - sir, you are a credit to the Navy and America - by standing up and being counted and letting them know that "we the people" are taking note and will no longer idly stand by and let them walk over our freedoms and Constitution - and no, they do not just belong to the baggers - those freedoms and the Constitution belong to ALL Americans.

Wow, he hit the nail on the head with his interuption. This crop of phoney Family Value Republicans needs to be taken to the mat each time they speak. And to the Teapublican trools, this doesn't go both ways as the Dems never once tried to claim that phoney mantel.

"Phoney" is the right word when it comes to the GOPTP and "Family Values". How can they use that term when just about everything they have done, are doing, and will do in some way destroys families, America, and the whole government system--from elections to laws???

AJ in ATL - That claim of "it goes both ways" is always the response when they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. And I'm with you - Democrats do NOT engage in that phonyism and pretense. "The Party of NO" so-called "patriots" have a history of doing so -- this IS WHO they are in truth.

We should be SLOW to put our troops in harm's way, but when we do, WE SHOULD KICK ASS AND GET OUT!

I want only 3 questions answered by ANY politician.

1) How do we remove corruption and cronyism from the system?
2) How do we get our government's finances in order?
3) What can we do to attract more businesses to the U.S. so we can all have jobs?

The only way I see to get there is if politicians are forced to give up their power to reward donors with special laws, subsidies and giveaways.

As a military veteran, he has earned the right to speak out against the people who only fight with their words (or in this case a lack of response) to take away our individual freedoms. Good for him. And how hypocritical of the republicans to be upset with this. How many town hall meetings did the "don't tread on me" "I want my country back" "Obama isn't a citizen" screamers disrupt and still get to stay and wave their misspelled banners.

Good for him. I did not see the debate but I did see the one where they booed the US solider and it was shocking this man is serving his country. Gay, Hetro, black, white, hispanic all of them are Americans serving your country and deserve more respect than this field of candidates is willing to give them.
11:31 AM on 10/13/2011

The person who asked the question was a US Military person serving the United States of America in Iraq. He has earned the right to asked any question he wants; therefore it was the US Solider that was booed'.

What have YOU or any Republican ever done to make the USA a better country?
