blago reminds me of a friend of mines exhusband, who tried to hire someone to have her killed during a bitter divorce. same personality traits. these people feel no fear, and as such, laws simply do not pretain to them. when they are caught, it's always someone elses fault. blagos grandstanding yesterday was all for show. i feel very sorry for his children. his wife is cut from the same cloth, and she'll be done with him in about 18 months. when he gets out in say 13 yrs. he'll be closing in on 70, will have missed his children growing up, and yes, he life is ruined.

Concernig Blago Trial verdict,
I understand a harsh message should be sent and I am not searching for any excuses, however, in my opinion, this sentence seems rather heavy handed for the following reasons...
#1, Can anyone deny issues such (favors) as this are not common pratice politically speaking?
#2, and, as such the above , this all ocurred, can in one not deny, the most Corrupt Political City, Chicago State of Illinois in our nation?

OOOOOMY: I agree with your post. I thought the sentence was an overkill. I believe Blago's personality got in the way of the Judge's decision.
02:45 PM on 12/30/2011
Marie, if he didn't have a bad attitude and try to blame others for the mistakes he made, and with intent, He might have been looked upon in a better light but he was still trying the system with all his adventures with the press and tv.

Chicago is not more corrupt. They just do better at uncovering political corruption.
09:35 AM on 12/08/2011
No. They are more corrupt to the point where more people are exposed. Do you think Blago was the only guilty party? The rest are laying low for awhile.

@John, that was my stance too. The criminal justice system needs an overhaul. First on the docket should be mandatory 20 year sentences for pedophiles.

Let me explain to people not from ILLINOIS why this is so sad. Rob B came into office after Illinois sent the previous Republican governor to jail. He went to jail over a scandal with trucking licenses that caused the deaths of innocent children. When Rod came into office he seemed young, energetic and a breath of fresh air. We didn't see the crazy man who would appear on reality shows and talk shows once he was in trouble. If we had any inkling he was that insane he would not have been the governor. So once again Illinois had a deceitful corrupt bozo in office. It's sad we can't get a good candidate here.

I'm from England it is a pity that your Election Laws do not permit a psychiatric examination of candidates for high office, we do not permit prisoners or lunatics to stand or vote in election, Illnois must be very unlucky you have had for jailed in four decades. F & F

The Obama bashing is really tired. Get some new material. Let me point out the Republican Governor before Rod is in Prison because his actions caused the death of Children. So give me a break.

This shameless enemy of self-government has finally learned that license for self-interest has its limits. Now this disgraced leader who left the state in much worse condition, then he found it will spend the flower of his life ostracized, incarcerated, gradually forgotten. In about 12.5 years when he is released, his children will be married and living anonymous lives, his wife will be attached to a different star. He will be shunned in private and public. He will be shown no more consideration than he showed the citizens he abandoned and betrayed. What a wasted, useless, ignoble life of a leader that could have been valuable except for his self-centeredness, laziness, greed and avarice in spades.
