The best of the proposed amendments you listed are proposed by Officials whose party you did not name. Those whose party you did identify are all democrats. Are we to assume you left out party affiliation for any Republicans because it doesn't fit your agenda to report that Republicans are also fighting the good fight?

I've never voted Republican in my life but if you don't give credit where credit is due, then you cause harm to us all. We need to know that some of them are not villains. It lessens the animosity and creates a space in which we could cooperate to end back up on top of our game.

Please, the simple truth will suffice.

Ratigan regularly has Republicans on his show. The thing is, most Republicans are all for corporations running things. Hardly any of them are not in the pay of the wealthy.

The Democrats, on the other hand, have many that are not as craven.

We must get money out of politics and we must at the same time make sure the Supreme Court can never identify corporations as people and give them 1st Amendment rights and we must make sure the Supreme Court can never equate money and speech. The only way to do this is through an all inclusive amendment. The 13 groups above -- with the help of the rest of us -- must work together to come up with this single amendment and support it with every fiber of our being. It is the new American Revolution, one fought with words, not guns, and we must win if we are ever to get this country back on track. The 1 percent will fight us all the way, but we must defeat them.

As i foretold back in the spring,it is not only foolish but suicide to awaken the sleeping giant, the earthquake has passed yet the silently rolling tsunami has been rolling building growing into a wall of outrage that no mere man or group can withstand,THE DEMOCRACY TSUNAMI.

Dylan, you are 100% correct on what to do, but it will never happen unless these political crooks are actually threatened with Death!

Corporations are groups of citizens same as unions. Why ban one groups interest but allow others?

Protect your free speech. Individuals or groups of individuals should both have a right to free speech

I went to sign the petition but a technical glitch right now - cool technical glitch page though. I feel we are definitely at the cusp where one way leads to a totalitarian state and the other to the sort of America (World even) in which we want to live. It will take engagement of some sort by us all, not just comfy armchair protesting, because these people we have trusted have by stealth and guile brought us to the brink.

For all this talk about respect for what the Founders believed by the right, they seem to ignore all the history and quotations against corporate influence on the US government. We cannot allow a corporate aristocracy, and unless we fight back now will lose control of our government.

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

Thomas Jefferson

so wouldn't corporate influence be less if government influence was less? There is no point in bribing someone that can't deliver, corporate influence of government is a problem because government has too much influence

But that is good. Corporations work for profit only.
The Government is here to protect the people, consumer, the environment from greedy profit only thinking Corporations!
Where is the loyalty of all the Corporations/ Businesses that moved their Manufacturing plants to Asia?
Profit only is their goal, and not what is good for America, or Americans.
Global trade has been a scourge for Americans, brought on by greedy politicans from Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., and now Obama.

For sure our founders would be unhappy with what is going on today. They wisely established a representative republic with equal justice for all because they wanted a stable, prosperous country in which no king could come along and steal property or wealth the way the freeloading financial execs on Wall Street just did.

Instead of a king to to extract trillions of hard earned dollars from the workers, we now have freeloaders on Wall Street who do this by committing fraud and in the process melt down millions of jobs, pensions, lives and businesses.

I was looking for the amendment that would ban public unions from buying politicians with our tax money. I didn't see it. It is not a level playing field if you ban corporate spending but not union spending.

Look harder and read the complete amendments. From the article above, one amendment reads, "The amendment also sets a cap of $100 on all political donation" So any Union would only be allowed $100.00. Quite a level playing field.

Unions vs Corporate money is in the ratio of 100 to 1, if not much more, in Corporations favor!

At least. I expect it is closer to, if not even more than 1,000 to 1 in favor of the corporations and the 1 percent.

Where are the republicans? In order to move any proposal forward; we will need republican support. All I see is private citizens and few Democrats moving the conversation froward. The messages needs to at least target the republican base in order to increase pressure on elected officials. True conservatives should have no problem removing ALL special interests from politics including unions.

The media is feeding us crap! There is no reality in reality shows. I haven't watched television regularly in years, and I am shocked everytime I get a glimpse of what passes for programming these days.

How many Americans know about the Cobell v. Salazar lawsuit, the largest class action lawsuit ever brought by Native Americans against the United States government?

How many Americans know that during the 1980s, Siberian peoples picketed the U.S. Embassy in Moscow on behalf of Native Americans?

Americans may not know, but you can be sure Italians know, French know, New Zealanders know. . . . That is why we have no respect around the world.

Aleida Guevara says Americans are ill-informed and it is hurting us. She is correct. The only ones who think the United States is Number One is Americans. Others know that quality of life is much higher in other countries; for example, Norway, Switzerland, France.

It will be interesting to see how the media report on the Occupy movement. It will be interesting to see how many people have to die before changes are accomplished. Few Americans recognize the fact that no real progress has ever been made in the United States without blood being shed, including the 8-hour day, weekends, vacation time, etc. As Utah Phillips always said, "If voting changed things, it would be illegal."
