Personally I think it's a crime that the Republican party has become such a joke. Between Mullah Santorum and flippy Willard we're being presented with two clowns as a serious contender for PRESIDENT? It is the logical conclusion to the deal with the Xtian right the party made 30 years ago. That's when they stopped having ideas and started down this anti-intellectual path that led them here to the point  Read More...

$6 a gallon for gas? Thank you Mr. Obama.
08:42 PM on 02/22/2012
Where do you live cause I'm in FL and here is $3.50
08:43 PM on 02/22/2012
Did you feel the same way when gas prices skyrocketed under Bush?
08:52 PM on 02/22/2012
If he/she being charged $6 a gallon must be because their Governer is Rep.

That's a state issue!!

The Republican party caved to a small irrevelant group known as the Tea Party, thereby showing a weakness and desperation which will render them obsolete. The Republican party of the Reagan days showed some strength and intelligence. This party today, I do not recognize.

The thing is, the democrats haven't even come out to challenge any of the prospective candidates in any real way. And why should they? They'll save their fire power for the actual nominee (whether it be somebody from the current crop or an October surprise). Then the real vetting of the candidate begins.
08:55 PM on 02/22/2012
this is the republican primary. when the nominee has to face the general election he will hopefully be more intelligent.

Judging by the choice the republicans will end up with it will be like trading a good used car for a clunker.

No surprise that Obama is doing well in the polls. The very things that made Americans mad are getting better. If he solves the gas price problem by the summer he will be everyone's hero. What doesn't help is the bad candidates the Republicans have competing for the presidential nomination. Romney seems like the only one that is presidential.

Polls mean nothing... Obama is the problem with the high gas prices. Drill Mr Obama........
08:42 PM on 02/22/2012
We are exporting more oil than ever because China is willing to pay more for it. That is what happens in free markets. The oil companies want to get the highest price for their oil. Trouble is, it isn't their oil, it belongs to the American people and should be sold here.
08:44 PM on 02/22/2012
Drilling won't make a difference. The oil goes to the world market.

Gas price is caused by the same problem as always, Wall Street hedge fund speculation plus saber rattling in the Persian Gulf.
09:09 PM on 02/22/2012
Don't forget the sabre rattling that is going on right here in the U.S. re Iran from the right wing. That doesn't help much either.

I cannot believe that 75% of Republican women would back Santorum. It just blows my mind. I am a 62 year old female and womens rights don't affect me as much, but I would fight to the end for the rights of younger females who would be forced to stay barefoot and pregnant, homeschooling a dozen kids in this day and age. They would not be allowed to work if their husband dies or leaves them and their would be no safety net for them anymore. Their is a Republican congressman that owes thousand of dollars in child support and won't pay it. Can you imagine what life for women would be like? I hope these women come to their senses soon.

This is not about us, I lived in the 70's, 40 years ago. This is a very big losing subject.

The Republicans are divided.
They are throwing rocks at each other.
Obama will collect all those rocks and throw them back come November.

It is making Republicans crazy. All their arguments are losers.
07:48 PM on 02/22/2012
Polls are only "snapshots in time". The polls will change sure as the sun will come up tomorrow. The new polls will show President Obama will have a huge lead over any Republican candidate. While we all recognize the Republicans have a very weak field of candidates, it should also stand out that no matter who they run, they have already lost the race. After the eight years of the administrations devastating collapse of our economy and the unwarranted wars in the middle east, the public got stung by that mentality and won't return to that ideology very soon. The Republicans have picked away at regulations, healthcare, women's rights, and the middle class and that goes against the grain of the 99%. You can't get elected when you only represent 1%of the country. The Republicans need remedial math if they don't understand this.

While Republicans are focused on the politics of self destruction the President is focused on doing what is best for the country. It is only logical that the Presidents numbers are going up. He is the only adult in the room and voters know it.
