I thought Burlesque looked bad too - but I enjoyed it and thought the music was great. I don't hold out the same hopes for this one - and I'm not a Tom Cruise hater.

it tells them how many years ago there was a water formation suchas a lake or ocean. the different colors is what helps them make their hypothesis.

I just realized I'm officially old. Because to me, the movie looks totally stupid.

Trust me kids, I was there for the whole show (Class of 87). The 80's sucked balls. Please pick another, more worthy generation to celebrate. Cheesy bar-chord rock and keyboard guitars should be forgotten, not showcased. AC/DC's "Back in Black" was the only thing that got some of us through that awful decade. Not a whiff of hairspray anywhere near that band.

It should give you a clue that the 1980's was when all the "Classic Rock" stations started taking off, playing stuff that was only ten years old at the time. Because the music we had in the 80's was so painfully lame. Sure, there were exceptions to the rule, but few and far between.

Now I'll probably get dumped on by all those A-ha and Thompson Twins fans.

You think music in the 80's were lame, what about music now?
Rap, hip hop, Arcade Fire, Artic Monkeys, Foster The People....you think music will still play theeir music 10 years from now?

A bit sweeping - there was some interesting stuff in the 80's (I was in my 20's and quite enjoyed some of it) but rock suffered. There was experimentation and a bit of innovation going on as they tried to see what synthesisers were capable of, and I enjoy synth music.

Alright, I'll concede that there was actually some awesome stuff swirling amongst the trash in the 80's. But none of it will be featured in "Rock of Ages".

I can't think of too many examples, but Rush's "Moving Pictures" and Ozzy's "Crazy Train" are reason enough to not do away with the 80's completely.

Other than that, the 80's was mostly about old "classic" bands reuniting... Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Deep Purple, Boston, Aerosmith, etc. And don't forget about Jimmi Page and Paul Rogers' "The Firm". It was non-stop reunions, back then, because most of the current stuff was so underwhelming.

I can't believe I just sat through 2 1/2 minutes of that garbage! I think I'd rather watch Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band with The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton

That's my reaction too. More or less.

Basically my reaction is "Um, that sucked" and "I want my 2.5 minutes back."

I wonder if they were deliberately being cheesy or they don't realize how painfully cheesy they are?

Don't be judgemental about 2.5 minutes of editing, even though it's probably the most interesting 2.5 minutes of the film.

I've never paid a dime to go to a theater to see a movie Tom Cruise has ever been in - this will continue.

You don't deserve to. He has one of the most impressive and consistent Filmography is Hollywood. Considering he is still getting paid millions after 3 decades and still starring in Lead roles (One Shot, Oblivion, We Mortals Are, MI5, so on). You should keep your change.

Thank you. What I find interesting is actors who've done worse in their personal lives get a pass, yet Tom Cruis still gets bashed.

I love sexy rock stars. But I hate Tom Cruise. Why did they have to cast him? He can't even sing!

Why hate Tom Cruise? You don't have to like his movies, but no need to hate him. He's an actor making a living, just like you washing dishes in a Denny's to make ends meet.

When I first heard of this movie (awhile back), I was a little excited. Then I heard they were going to cast Tom Cruise in the lead, so I was significantly less excited. Maybe a little depressed even. Then I saw the rest of the cast and I was a little excited again.
But then, I watched this trailer and am back to being depressed.
This looks utterly horrid.
