Partisan agendas can't compete with objective fact
11:16 PM on 04/08/2012
Ozzie couldn't control his mouth in Chicago. Part of the time, he did it to take the heat away from his under-performing players. Other times, he just could not stop himself. At the end, he did it in order to get fired.
Making pro-Castro comments during your first week of your new job in MIAMI!?!?!?!?
People in Chicago thought he was funny. NOBODY is going to be laughing in Miami.

Wrong, many in Miami are tired of the flag-burning cuban exile community.

Go back to the Elian saga for the US flag-burning while waving the flag of Castro and you get the picture. The only thing good about the exilistos is that they are almost gone from existence, replaced by much braver and more deserving people.

Not saying they are right. I am saying that they will make a lot of noise. I too, am sick of having foreign policy dictated by a tiny group of loudmouths.

He expressed his opinion. Good for him. The cuban "exiles" ( I call them cowards who ran away. You're not an exile if you run away like a child from a schoolyard bully and hide behind your mothers' skirt) will posture and protest like tough guys, shaking their fists and stomping their feet instead of standing up and fighting against Fidel IN cuba like the men who fought and died in this country and foreign lands to provide the freedom these cowards now enjoy.

I guess no one told Ozzie that expressing love for Fidel may not go over well in South Florida?

Ozzie simply speaks the truth, Castro was a great leader and exiles are still sore about losing the civil war.
10:53 AM on 04/09/2012
I wasn't going to comment on all your ridiculous posts but you are just a total idiot, Castro a great leader really? Is that why people continously flee the island, the cuban society has completely degenerated to where people don't work, woman prostitute themselves to escape that island, Cuba has no economy to speak of, is this what makes a great leader in your mind. Why don't you move to Cuba with your favorite leader.

Old American Money still pissed off about loosing their sugar assets, and cheap labor. How can we trade with China and still hold a grudge against Cuba. Hypocritical.
08:00 PM on 04/08/2012
Castro overthrows an unfair U.S.-backed dictatorship and implements a system that gives its citizens free education and healthcare. Cuba beats the U.S. in at least those two categories. Grant it - the Cuban government does not tolerate dissent, but looking after what happened w/ the Occupy movement and waves of police brutality/excessive force, the U.S. is not the gold standard to be compared with.

The U.S. society can be summed up in this cliché: "The worst form of oppression is where you are given the illusion you are free". At least Cuba is honest about it.

Guillen is a true clown. Always putting his foot in his mouth.

Miami is Cuba central, and the people there don't have a favorable opinion of Castro. Many of them have family members persecuted by him. And Ozzie has the nerve to say stuff like this.

He will never live this down, and he will never shut up.

Porque no te callas?!!

Obviously you dont' live in Miami or know too many Cubans.

I do and I do.

Castro is not liked but he is now a scapegoat more than anything else.

When he dies and Cuba embraces the outside world, none of them will be moving back.

Oh yes Castro has been very bad:

The literacy rate is higher in Cuba than in the USA, almost 100%.

Everyone has access to doctors and hospital because of socialized medicine.

There is no homelessness.

No one goes hungry.

That is not ture! Stop witth the nit witt propaganda, Cuba has survived for many years because those from Miami send over $15 Bi$$ion in US Do$$ars to Cuba every year and that is just from Miami Dade County.
11:03 AM on 04/09/2012
Is funny how people just buy in to all this propaganda. If you actually lived in Cuba you would know that while healthcare is free, the service is horrible, rooms are dirty and they lack most medications and before anyone brings up the embargo, while Cuba does no trade with the US they trade with the rest of the world, so the embargo is no excuse. As far as the free education, all I'm going to say is that kids are teaching kids, the majority of the teachers in Cuba now are student helpers that just pop in a video for the kids to watch and learn from (my cousin is a teacher in Cuba so I know first hand). IF CUBA WAS SO GREAT WHY ARE PEOPLE DYING TRYING TO ESCAPE. Need I say anything more.

I am not a communist but historically the class of people who Castro threw out were those who oppressed the people since the days of Columbus and Cortez. Look at them. Most of at them are very light which reflects their Spanish heritage. 60 years ago this class paid for the sins of their forefathers. Too bad it came about the way it did.

Since Ozzie is in entertainment, his remark was not very wise even if there is much truth in the statement. Now if the Cuban people can get beyond Marxism and the American people can be saved from the Cuban exiles, we all will benefit.

Americans saved from Cuban exiles? YOU mean the mass exodus of Cubans from the USA back to Cuba?

We in Florida survived the Mariel Boatlift, we can survive anything.
03:10 PM on 04/08/2012
Ozzie has never been very bright.

But to celebrate a man who murdered thousands - in a state where relatives of those tortured and killed have fled to - was just plain ignorant.

YOU need a new source for you news.
11:05 AM on 04/09/2012
And Che is probably a hero to you right? Yes Castro as murder thousands and his friend Che carried out most of the murders.
