pretty unimaginative, typical scare tactics to justify cynical policies.

Facebook is an arm of the CIA, just my opinion. The goverment could never do what facebook has done. Now they want all that information to go after Americans. Is this all the Government does now is hunt Americans so that they can help the Prison Industrial Complex? just asking? Now they want to go on cyber crusades.

Everybody should de-friend Facebook.

Knowing the real details is the key. Protection and intrusion may cross that fine line. However, posting on Facebook puts in the public domain, when you share who you are with or not, when you are buying underwear at Walmart, the world knows. If you want to remain private...keep it to yourself to begin with.

If you're on Facebook, NOTHING is private.
Fascistbook is malignant cancer to individual freedoms and privacy rights.

To the U.S. government: Stop making enemies around the world and you won't have to worry about ANY threats!

That's it in a nutshell. "They hate our freedom" is an excuse that's getting old. What they hate is our domination agenda. Halliburton to our rescue!

When Facebook jumped into the political area they hired "GOP Republicans and advisors and started contributing to the GOP Republican political campaigns under the guise of their employee freedom to contribute to political campaigns. That's when I deleted my account with them. They have been involved in one controversy after another. To me Facebook is no better than Romney.

How do you exactly equate this issue solely with the GOP? This is an issue you should be taking up with both parties

I can see the point of wanting to work with government agencies to protect their own sight. But there is still a concern of privacy to consider. I would hope they would work towards a solution to protect our privacy from hackers and the government. As for those just poopooing Facebook, I think you fail to understand this is not just about facebook...this is also about your online bank accounts, a stores records of credit and debit card purchases, your email accounts, Twitter, Your Huff Po accounts.....

The right order is the Government and then hackers.

Unless the younger generation can wrench themselves away from this media addiction, it will become the Big Brother they all fear, or maybe don't fear, I doubt any of them have even read the book. You are all lambs being led to the slaughter just because you want to see what someone posted on your wall.

"I doubt ANY of them have even read …" Excuse me, "ANY"? I could see saying "some", "most", or "many", but implying that NO MILLENNIALS have ever read 1984 when it's on HIGH SCHOOL REQUIRED READING LISTS is kind of … well … the only words I have for it are offensive to your intelligence.

But considering you just slighted my entire generation's intelligence perhaps I should not be so reticent to do.

What everyone is missing is that this is not an emerging threat but a receding threat. Fear is big business but seriously, it's getting a lot harder to take-down a website. Security is getting better not worse. Best practices in cryptography are spreading quickly. Technology is winning hands down. But fear mongering cyber-security is still freaky panic, we're all gonna die. The end of the internet is more likely to come from security measures than from any other source.

Facebook: Your site is not as important as the people who use it. You are not necessary. Never forget that. Websites are like politics, whats big today is passe tomorrow.
