Depp and McCartney are suave, but Natalie Portman is exquisitely beautiful ...

Meh..he hasn't done much worth listening too since the Beatles breakup. Lennon and McCartney were each about 3/4 of a songwriter..but the 1.5 songwriter they made together was awesome. Not only did the muse come to live with those 2, she was sleepin' wit' em.

Are you sleeping with him or something? Why are you so invested in other people's opinions? It doesn't mean you have to stop rocking that Wings 8 track.

He seems like a good person but I have to stop listening to his new songs that are never new. He is still in the Wings period. He shouldn't require Portman and Depp as props if he is producing good music. This sounds like it belongs in an elevator or a supermarket. I know I sound cranky but maybe his time has come and gone and we can stop pretending that he is the greatest pop musician ever.

We don't have to pretend - name one pop artist who was greater? Then take it beyond singing and dancing to writing great pop, rock and roll, classical and BAFTA winning movie scores. Name another pop artist who made it into the top 36 musical artists of all time TWICE, including the number 1 position.

He had his time and his current products are not very good. I have been listening to a variety of things this weekend and this had to be the worst of the lot. Is this better than Rage Against the Machine's Bulls On Parade? Or Eminem's I'm Not Afraid or Adele's Rolling In the Deep?

He has been coasting off of his fame for a while now and we don't have to pretend he is producing amazing music because he was honored by BAFTA.

What does his age or my occupation have to do with critiques on an article that promotes a mediocre song. Make a real argument.

"Johnny Depp & Natalie Portman Sing For Paul McCartney "
Once again, swing by an article based on front page false pretense.

Miming and sign language do not equal"sing"...

But one could say that singing is not only done with a vocal language. A song performed in a signed language could be considered singing perhaps.

"Paul McCartney," writes Kia Makarechi, "is fast approaching the ripe age of 70, but the former Beatle and British knight is showing no signs of slowing down." This sentence holds a condescending attitude toward the age of 70. The writer, facing a deadline, groped for a way to ease into the story, and fell back on an easy stereotype. Kia implies that since Paul is almost 70 now, isn't it cool and amazing that he isn't slowing down. Seeing people in their 70s who not slowing down is not remarkable. Seventy really is the new 50. (Well, 55.) Startling advances have been made in the last 20 years in anti-aging medicine and longevity research. Astonishing research findings are being made about, for example, the value of supplements on brain functioning - acetyl-l-carnitine, pregnenolone, phosphatidylserine, gingko, DMAE. A whole lot of people in their 70s are functioning at or near their peaks, among them Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger. My doctor, Timothy Smith M.D., just turned 70 a couple of months ago and is completing a revolutionary book on cardiovascular health. This trend, of people in their 70s and 80s being intensely productive and energetic, will mushroom in coming years. HuffPost, and Kia Makarechi, would be well-advised to examine their coverage of how this trend unfolds. Otherwise we're going to have to find some writers over 70 to tell us what's going on.
02:07 PM on 04/15/2012
Slow down, Mick and Paul aren't in their 70's yet!...:-) It also helps to have a life long positive mental attitude....by the way, a well stocked bank account doesn't hurt either!!!

oh get over it. I'm 60 and yes 70 is old. try to accept aging with more dignity than most of our generation.
05:47 PM on 04/15/2012
70 was old 30 centuries ago when the Book of Psalms announced that the human lifespan is "threescore and ten." Believe that pronouncement if you wish, a lot of fools do, and accordingly conceive of 70 as "old." The best researchers today say it's more like 120 years (cf Tim Smith, Norm Shealy, etc. etc. etc.). Accept whatever number you desire; your expectations will profoundly color your health and lifespan; I'm proud to be part of the generation that is smashing down the paradigm. Sounds like you'll be dead in about 15 years.

Considering how that can knock the sh%t out of a soul, and the song's content, I think it's understandable.....

I saw him in first class many years ago and he looked like a typical druggie. I was very disappointed but it made me see reality instead of the media blitz that perpetuates these few beings over and over again in joe public's face

'typical druggies' don't write half of some of the best music ever produced by humans in their prime career.
maybe you did well in your life but it's a virtual certainty you never did 1/100 as much for civilization as this man did.
08:59 AM on 04/16/2012
What did he do for civilization? Did he discover a vaccine for a deadly disease.? He's just a musician marketing an audience of non-musicians who know little about playing an instrument.

Ha. Please tell us what a "typical druggie" looks like, in your great wisdom. You saw him on a plane. Who ever looks good on a plane? Everyone looks tired, haggard, and impatient for it to be over with.

McCartney seems to be nothing more than a shallow being parading around with his "trophy wife" life. In the end even media sensation McCartney is still groveling over a vaginal canal. Come on Paul, even a young chick bleeds, urinates etc.,. Can't he his find someone older than his daughter's age.
