Leftwing extremist!

Another big insurance big corporation to get away with fraud and crimes by giving the public hush, hush money. They probably paid government investigators and whomever was in charge to tell the people that this is the best they could get and if they don't accept the deal they may never see anything come to fruition.

They, Met, Snoopy, figured that if Ricky S., guv of the sunshine state could get away with medical insurance fraud from his medical corporation, Columbia/HCA, then so could they!
These corporate crooks think they can do anything they want, fraud, deceit and only get a dollars to doughnuts monetary slap on the wrist!
We the general public, the 99%'ers have to hold them accountable OR, they will continue to run rampant on our human rights of equality and Justice for ALL!

so did they actually admit any guilt, or just pay a fine to make it go away and later claim they did nothing wrong as they were not convicted of it. Like usual for big business. Wouldn't it be nice if someone robbed a bank, gave the justice department a small percentage of the loot, and then get off without any punishment or guilty plea. Only if your really rich can you do this though.

So, having been caught ripping off their policy-holders, dating back nearly 20 years, the company stock goes up because they promise to do better in the future.

and I'm sure the money they are paying out to not get a guilty charge, is a pittance of what they reaped from ripping off the customers. I'm sure many greed driven capitalist will claim its more government interfering in company making profits, and Ivy League business schools will start teaching how to not get caught doing the same thing, and of course show Met life as a victim of a capitalist hating government.

It has been said " No Insurance Company will pay out a large sum of money to Children of Parents who died " . I always figured they setup a trust for the kids. It never occured to me they would hide the fact there was a Insurance Policy and keep the money. Just boggles the mind at how corrupt these Corporations have become.
All the while preaching that Society should have morals and ethics.
Makes me sick.

Often death claims are never filed, all life insurance cos. have that problem. Tracking down bennificaries is also difficult. Nothing criminal about it, who do you pay
03:01 AM on 04/24/2012
BS. They're using it for one thing and not the other. Do you get it

Really?

With technology and databases today it's not too difficult a task to locate someone.

There's that new dirty word again — settle.

When will there be convictions for corporate wrong-doing?

And, BTW — "In a statement, MetLife said $188 million in payments will be made this year and the rest over the next 17 years." — really???

What happened to all of the money MetLife didn't pay to the insured's listed beneficiaries they discovered using the "master Death File" prior to 1995?

Notice how "sorry" they are only after they get caught and cut a deal.
