I still make the argument that current drug policy and enforcement, on the whole, is still more unhealthy than drug use itself. If you don't want kids smoking pot then you should legalize it and regulate it like all the other drugs our country loves to love, or hates to love, or loves to hate or whatever.

The war on drugs, esp. MJ, is not working.

If we legalized and taxed it for anyone over 18, perhaps we could get it out of the hands of younger people.

We could start to make a better world in this country for our kids. Less gangs, less violence, less cartel power, better policing, more revenue to govt, lower taxes or less waste, a return of individual liberty and rights, alternatives sources for energy, petroleum, bio-fuels, textiles, better economy, more jobs, environmental benefits. This policy stands at the crossroads of more issues than any other single policy in existence.

I am not surprised how much pot some teenagers smoke. I first tried it at age 13, didn't start using it regularly my freshman year in high school. Not saying that it is ok for teenagers to do it, but kids are gonna do what they want. I know I did. Parents need to wake up and tell their kids the truth about marijuana. It didn't destroy my life, but sure as hell didn't help grade wise when I was going through high school. I slowed down the last 1 1/2 years of high school and got my act together in just enough time. I only smoke every once and awhile now, its a good way to relax. We need proper education on marijuana not some outdated bulls**t that makes users into criminals.

Aspirin is the ultimate gateway drug. Nearly 100% of illicit drug users have used aspirin.

Legalize it!!!! Regulate it!!!!!! It's the only way to limit the amount of young people having access to marijuana.

Anything that is sold on the black market is a "gateway" to the black market and everything it holds. Drug dealers don't check ID's folks.

Racist :)

I believe the correct nomenclature is "Underground Economy".

And, if you are a really worthy parent not averse to risk taking Venture Capitalism, you might want to "sponsor" your child in scoring their first QP. This is Entrepreneurialism 101. They will learn more about money, human psychology, and economics if you allow them to become Drug Dealers.

If using illegal drugs is so prevalent why bother wasting millions of dollars on the "war on drugs" which has been lost a long time ago, instead legalize the stuff ,collect taxes on the stuff and card kids who try to buy it.

" Teens who smoked 20 times or more a month were almost twice as likely as kids who smoked pot less frequently to use ecstasy, cocaine or crack."
i believe that not telling the truth about pot to teens is the biggest mistake the powers that be could possibly make.
marijuana is just a little giggle while harder drugs are the real danger.
so when a teen tries pot and finds out that what they have been taught about it is BS then they also do not believe the truth about the danger harder drugs can pose. until your body is done maturing taking any drug is the real danger, and that includes alcohol.
as long as marijuana is illegal it is easier to get.

Those who advocate for restricting and outlawing cannabis are going up against basic human nature and will always loose the fight. Humans have been self intoxicating since the dawn of time. What is it about this flowering plant that upsets people anyway? I have personally tried cannabis a few times and find it turbo charges my senses and things are funnier. I see no problem with this plant but see a real danger in alcohol consumption and drug use.

How many drug stores are in your town? DRUG stores are all over the place. Just say NO to drugs and yes to flowers.
