Why is it a "miracle" that Hannah survived? Was she "more Christian" than the other passengers, so god favored her? Why did god make the plane crash in the first place?

Right on. How ridiculous for the father to refer to his daughters life being saved as a "miracle".

That is the question no one wants to answer.

i wonder why God chose to kill this man in such a horrible way.
seems that there are a lot less painful ways god could have killed him

why would you say that? because he questions God?

Makes me often think too, Im not a religious person, however, odd if there is a god looking over him. God like L. Ermy in full Metal Jacket said has it on for Marines to be kind here. And he meant it in a good way!

Austin is a leading example of what it truly means to have Courage and Honour. This world could use more people like him.

A very sad moment.

It is particularly ironic that jebus who plans everything and makes everything happen per Her will must have wanted him dead and not at the rally. What kind of happy-haloed thinking does that?

My condolence to the family of this American hero. He is an example to us all.

So very proud to call him my Brother! Semper Fi and God Bless you Marine!

Once a Marine, always a Marine!! Our brothers continue to serve even though we no longer wear the visible uniform; it is what was instilled in us when we first hit the "yellow footprints." Semper Fi, Marine. You are what we are all about.

Between my Father and the Marine Corps I learned discipline, honor, sacrifice, determination and support those who need me. You are correct. Never an "Ex-Marine" just an "old" Marine.

Of course he would do this, he's a marine. He didnt even hesitate. It's a shame to lose him after only 27 years, but at least he is now resting in peace.

Austin Anderson is the hero here, HuffPo. Shame on you for posting the young, pretty girl's pic on the front page. No disrespect to the girl, but the soldier who died after saving her life should be honored in that fashion, not her.

Crashed while flying to a Christian Youth rally? Why would God do that? Was he not paying attention? Did Zeus go behind his back?
11:19 AM on 05/15/2012
When God calls, it's not a punishment. It just means come back home, your finished with all the rest of that now.
11:59 AM on 05/15/2012
So, let me get this straight, God calls him home but first he burns the man over 90% of his body, burns the girl over 28% of her body and kills their friends. Hmmmm sounds like a God I want in my life.......... If he had all of that power wouldn't he be a bit more humane?

So God kills people? Why? What have they done to earn such a thing?

..or could it be just random, and no deity is involved at all?

The Marine should be honored for his act, no question--but don't attribute it to anything other than his desire to aid someone else even in the face of death.

Much respect, Austin Anderson. Thank you.
10:59 AM on 05/15/2012
What the Marine did was very brave and he should be celebrated for his courage. But I'm sorry, but it has to be said that if what was preached at that Christian youth rally were true, then the plane never would have gone down in the first place. I want to be respectful, but this point is shockingly obvious and needs to be pointed out.
11:32 AM on 05/15/2012
You were at the youth rally? You know what was said? Ignorance is not very flattering.
01:32 PM on 05/15/2012
It was a Christian youth Rally. What do you think was said? That God is an all loving all knowing all powerful being. Yet if he knew innocent people were going to die in a plane crash and he sat back and did nothing then he can't be all three.
11:36 AM on 05/15/2012
Why? God didn't build the plane, man did. and we all know how perfect humans are. Why do you blame God? you sound like He's just supposed to do everything for you so can just float through life without any problems. The Bible says that Satan is the god of this world because of all the misery and pain he causes. Why not put the blame on him?

He is supposedly all loving, all knowing, and all powerful. If you were those things would you let innocent people suffer? If not, then how can you claim that he is all those three things?

A big Salute to this hero.

Austin Anderson, you are a Marine, you are a Hero. You are the model American. Young children everywhere should aspire to your heroism, bravery, courage and humanity. You are all that is good. I know that you are in God's loving hands now. RIP my Brother. We will never forget you.

With how much he was burned its amazing he was able to pull her from the wreckage. The pain he must have been in was probably unimaginable. Now that's one TOUGH SOB right there. Too bad he wasn't able to make it. May he rest in peace.
