Financed by Citi-Group, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, etc., Under Bush 43, Republicans led the charge to repeal Glass-Steagall, adopt free-range deregulation of Wall Street, and neuter Dodd-Frank, all leading to the financial meltdown that forced America into economic depression. Since banks were restricted under Glass-Steagall from using depositor funds to invest in the Dow,  Read More...

It is America, she is free to leave and find a better paying job. Wonder how thick the stack is of applicants wanting the position.

and is that not sad that this is what unemployed americans have to look forword too. Barely over minumum wage jobs, with gas and food prices starting to rise.

You don't get it. There should be NO job in America for legal residents that pays less than a liveable wage.

Explanation:
Can you pick out anybody & say hey, that person's doing an honest day's good job, not living off the govt (taxpayers)--but they don't deserve to make enough to pay for their fundamental expenses of survival because it's an unimportant position?

FACT:
The more money squandered on keeping the greedy top dogs happy making way beyond 100-1000x what the humblest employees make, steals money from our communities by forcing our super-inefficient govt to make up the $ difference--gouging us with high taxes--to keep poor neighborhoods & towns from sinking into complete riotous squalor.

Result: small business-strangling regulations & taxations of a shrinking tax base. But we know the govt can't do ANYTHING as well as a fair-paying source of employment would provide.

Any job that pays less than a liveable wage is practically SLAVE labor.

And any "job" that pays 1000x what the lowest worker in a company makes is practically a SLAVE MASTER job.

This rots America.

you are incorrect,,it's about supply and demand,,,more supply of janitors than people qualified to run a company...ie. labron james 50 million, guy that does the laundry 8 bucks an hour...doesn't mean the laundry isn't working hard, it's just his qualifications.
09:33 AM on 06/21/2012
May as well get used to it because wages for unskilled jobs are never going to be a, "living wage" again in America. There are way to many people competing for way to few jobs. The guy standing behind you will offer to do the job for less than you will just to have a job. Offshore manufacturing and robotic machines have eliminated the need for high paid labor. The only way you can, "make it", is to start your own business or gain a skill in high demand that employer's are willing to pay for.

Pushing around a vacuum cleaner and dumping trash cans doesn't and won't ever pay a wage high enough to sustain 4 or 5 people in anything but poverty. Choices have consequences.

YES choices. SHE choose not to learn English. SHE chose to have 3 kids. She chose not to better herself after being in the workforce for 20 years. She chose to whine to someone that is not her employer. She chose to be in a union instead of directing her own life. CHOICES!

Here are people that complain that they don't get paid enough. I was in that same position and wanted to make more. I didn't cry about it I worked harder and if my employer didn't see it I looked for a better one. I have a great job now after long years of hard work. If you work hard and people see it, opportunities will open up for you. Today I had to chuckle when I saw an expensive car pull into my office today. Out walked our cleaning lady. She is awesome in her job and our company made sure they pay her good to keep her.

Unfortunately, JPMorgan-Chase chooses not to pay enough for their cleaning ladies to have the same wage. This is why she went to face Dimon in person.

Years ago I worked as a janitor. I did such a good job that I got raises, then promotions. Maybe she should try to better herself and her situation. She probably has no input in her own life because her UNION sets her pay. She has no reason to do a better job.
10:34 PM on 06/20/2012
But we don't know if she has a union. We do know someone got her to congress to try to embarrass Jamie Dimon with the reality of her situation. What he should do is resign. All that money he lost came out of the pockets of others.

Between 5 and 10% of the working age people in this country are incapable of producing goods or services that would equal the minimum wage. Some of them are flat-out lazy but for most of them they just don't have the job skills required to produce much of anything. Business's hire these people during the good times because they just don't know how unproductive they are and they're desperate for people. It's like that today in North Dakota in the oil fields. When recessions hit, these are the first people to be let go. Job creators, like Jamie Dimon, are not responsible for this phenomenum. Minimum wage people, and below, are there because of the choices they make during their lives. Single mother of three kids.....she didn't get that way because she was struck by lightning. She made choices. Don't blame Jamie Dimon for her predicament.

Call my office? What a cop out. Despite what the GOP/TP member try to convince people, many of these "CEO's" did not put any of their own cash to get a company started or are the ones that started said company. These morons went to college and majored in business management. So this gives them a license to treat those that actually perform the real labor for their company like dirt? Wonder what these major morons would do if their entire staff just decided to tell them to take their job and shove it? Yeah, these clowns are a success due to the labors of others and it seems those others really are not getting the apppreciation that should be given.

When you are in that situation you do not accept a job but you TAKE it because you have no choice.

Most, not all, of the people in the top positions have a tremendous advantage in that their families had enough money to send them to college where they learned the skills needed to handle the jobs that pay these high incomes.
Most, not all, of the people in the lower income jobs came from families in the same predicament they now find themselves in.
Try going to bed hungry as a child or going to school in rags and being made fun of by other kids and see how easy it is to pull yourself from this kind of lifestyle.

Really sad excuse from a small mind. You can get grants, and loan. You can even start out in a local school then transfer to an ivy league if your grades are high enough. Which means you really work hard for it. In fact there are a lot of poor people doing that in community college. But it's much better to point the finger at someone who did it and say I can't and want the govt to support me.

Another SIEU shakedown. If you take a job and it doesn't pay enough get another job for three or four hours a day to make an eight-hour day and probably double your earnings. I had to do it and I to pay child support out of that. This lady has three children and lives below the poverty level. Does she get rent assistance, state funds for food and housing a free cell phone? I suggest they raise her hourly rate to a point where those state funds are not applicable and then watch the union send its goons out to force more money and work.

If you raise the minimum wage much higher we'll have 20% unemployment.
11:06 PM on 06/20/2012
Only in the short term. When more people have disposable income, more money is spent. 70% of our economy is consumer spending. Anything that enables consumer spending positively effects the economy. When a very few have very much, they cannot possible spend enough to keep the economy going, no matter how extravagant. Middle class people will spend a much higher percentage of their income, and en masse, much more than the 1%. Raise the wage, and there will once again be a demand or goods., which creates jobs. When you cut wages in a recession, it becomes a downward cycle.
09:50 PM on 06/20/2012
Everyone can make $8.35 per hour, then she will be happy.
10:03 PM on 06/20/2012
She needs to complain to her company, not JP Morgan. Just like a temp agency that pays a receptionist $10/hour, and charges the company $18. Go to community college, lady and get a degree so you don't have to spend your life picking up trash. Where's papa, by the way? That's another problem... 50% of divorced families and half of our babies born out of wedlock... you wonder why you can't get ahead? Get a clue. I used to be liberal and want to help everyone, but enough is enough. I didn't make your babies, didn't make your choices, and I'm not going to pay your way.
