How Obama has handled the massive problems is EXACTLY how Republicans would've handled them (and how BushCheney was handling them).  Obama's not governing as he had promised or as a real Democrat would have.

The real shame, the real tragedy for all of us is that Obama could have been a transcendent president, good for both business AND  Read More...

WHERE IS THE SURPRISE???

Did you even read the article? The gist of it is that when people actually find out what's in the bill they do like it.

There is nothing surprising about this poll at all. When polled, most people react to buzzwords that they have little understanding of. When policy is explained to them, most voters generally agree with the Democratic position. Unfortunately, many times it is the shouting and the endless stream of right wing corporate propaganda that carries the day. If the media did their job and took the time to outline the real issues, republicans would never again win an election. That's why corporate America decided to buy the airwaves and control the conversation, and now with Citizens United they have completed their task of buying the votes.

If health care is not resolved it will kill our so called capitalistic economy. The more money you spend on staying alive the less money you have to spend on others things. Health insurance cost, that are tied to wall street profits rise faster than inflation at a rate of 12% per year which is unsustainable. Lets be clear health care will be resolved the question is what will it look like.

As usual Americans remain unable to understand the full effect of the law, as the article notes Americans strongly favor some parts of the law but the mandate and endless attacks from the Republicans have obscured what is actually in the law. The truth remains that no matter how the court rules Ameican healthcare is a very expensive joke. We pay double what the rest of the world pays, we lose our houses and savings and are sentenced to poverty by America's "healthcare system". Conservatives, stop foaming long enough to realize this means you too.

"The survey results suggest that Republicans are convincing voters to reject Obama's reform even when they like much of what is in it, such as allowing children to stay on their parents' insurance until age 26."

Talk about going against your own self interest.

Do you have insurance? If so, then if you become ill and have to use it, you are relying on others' premiums to be a burden to them.

This ACA simply puts more people on insurance.

When regressives are told the facts, it's amazing how they then end up supporting liberal policies. When they are told lies, they support regressive policies.

In addition, if most of them understood that the individual mandate doesn't force them to purchase insurance (simply bestows a fine to those who don't) and that there is no "government insurance" program that they have to buy into, the individual mandate wouldn't bother them near as much either.

Sadly, they get their information from right-wing hate radio and media. That means they are uninformed.

2 points- First, this shows how terribly Obama sold the law- or was that intentional since the law is a disaster designed to enrich pharma and ins companies on middle class backs.

Secondly, the poll is flawed- nobody knows what is in the bill thus nobody can say for sure they like "much of what is in it". What the pool seems to show is support for Obama. If you support OBama (bad choice) then of course you will say you like the law.

The law is not HC reform. It is INS reform. The law is also a GOP idea and since when has the GOP EVER produced anything useful in recent memory? Why would Obama use a GOP idea?

what we need is sensible, affordable and responsible reforms implemented one at a time in the least intrusive fashion as possible. We need to remove the pork from the law and also create incentives for Americans to get healthy. The current bill offers nothing so Americans get healthy. It only enables bad health behavior.

Individual aspects that have been on the news and internet.

Nobody has actually read the full bill cover to cover. Nobody. It is not understandable by "common folk".

Has anyone read about the "medical loss ratio"
What about that $105bil slush fund buried in the bill to be spent on anything.

Nobody knows what is really in the bill. It is a disaster that needs to be repealed.
10:41 AM on 06/26/2012
Here we go again. Everybody agrees we need health care reform. The only reason we don't get it is because there is no comromise between two ever more antagonistic parties. There are probably good parts to both ideas but the hatred prevents any agreement. And by the way, I'm tired of this "people come from all over the world for our health care" crap. They come from all over the world for our doctors. The doctors come here from all over the world because this is the only place they can become very wealthy doing what most of the rest of the world treats as a good job.

Stop with the false equivalence. The entire existance of the mandate, something that seems to generate the majority of the negative feedback, was exactly that, a compomise. Rushpublicans proposed adding it, as they have wanted to do for decades and Democrats pocepted, hoping that it would get some Rushpublicans on board. Wishful thinking, naturally.

Excellent points!

I remember when they actually DID work together for the common good, I think the Dems tried when they were discussing the reform - they made a LOT of modifications to appease the opposition.

And yes, we have created this environment in our capitalistic manner. Health care is a gigantic industry! I just wish there were more focus on wellness than treatment by drugs. That would benefit people and health, but not business.

When the demand goes up and the supply remains stable, the price starts heading north. You give free healthcare to a whole bunch of people (millions) who can't afford it or don't want to pay for it, someone is going to have to fork over the money to cover the cost. Guess who that's gonna be?

Americans love the provisions but hate the mandate -- which is no different than the mandate to have car insurance or home owners insurances and now apartment complexes are mandating renter's insurance.

When the Democrats started to let lies about the HC Reform from the insane asylum MisterMurdock owns that MisterAiles runs replace the truth, this is the mess that results from. Explain the legislation that Americans understand because one thing is for sure and two things for certain, Democrats over-estimate the collective intelligence of voting Republicans. Spell it out for them in coloring books or pop-up books but leaving it open for the GOP propaganda machine to manipulate will always mean legislative disaster.

Keep Your Hands Off My Obamacare

Thanks to the FOX dis-information Channel they never hear that many want "Medicare For ALL" and are therefore opposed to this cobbled not all-inclusive plan. In president Obama's willingness to compromise - he gave up the key to the store. The Corporate Wall Street and Pharmaceutical Republicans plus Senator Lieberman, Ben Nelson and other Bought Democrats made sure Americans could be extorted out of every penny and threatened with death - should they not pay up outrageous premiums, or be unfortunate and unable to get - or afford insurance.

The 44% that fully support the plan is awful close to the 47% that pay nothing into the Federal Treasury. Seems that at least 3% are hoping to get off the government teat. The other 44% want to become a bigger burden to the contributors.

Not to mention workong families. They all pay their taxes, they just get to write off a whole lot more with children, mortgage interest, medical.
No one gets a tax free paycheck, even contract 1099 people have to file returns. It just depends on what they can write off.
I have been federal taxes since 14. I am single and don't get the tax breaks afforded to married people with children. So for 33 years, I have paid in. I pay property taxes to educate children I don't have. Not to mention fuel taxes, sales tax, and the other taxes included in our everyday lives.
