Now, I'm just wondering: Was more money spent here, or on gun-walking (Fast & Furious) in Mexican drug cartels?

Whoever wrote the headline for this was pulling stuff out of his ass. Nowhere in the story is this escapade styled as he characterized it.

The Army should just go back to forest green or khaki fatigues depending on deployment area. With all of the equipment worn over it, there is not a lot of reason to camouflage the whole uniform. It would be simpler to just camouflage the armor and load-bearing equipment.

Why not just take aerial color photos of the actual area of operations, digitize it, and print that onto the outer layer of the uniform? The technology is available.

As for the expense, anything that the Army buys tends to be a large expenditure due to the large numbers involved whether weapons, vehicles, or number 2 pencils.

How did it possibly cost 5 billion? If you think the DoD doesn't need cuts, here is your story that shows you to be wrong.

If this had been run on some sort of cost control, it was a worth project with actual results. Not being entirely universal isn't a huge failure as it was very good regardless. Not 5 billion good though.

The fraud, waste, and abuse needs to be addressed. We need to look to make the whole process more efficient so we can actually, you know, but more stuff and create more jobs with the same amount of money.

What A Truly Disingenuous Headline The Uniform Has Nothing To Do With Being "Cooler" Period !

What it has to do with is this Idiotic "More With Less" mentality todays leaders believe to be true.

You Need 3 UniformsArcticrtic 2. Desert 3. Woodland Period! Wasting more money and time trying to defeat The Real Physical World, Logic and Rational not being "Cool"

You nailed it those three are just fine, and snow camo works well in multiple conditions.

Typical fraud, waste and abuse by the DoD. How many former Air Force Veterans remember Gen McPeak and his uniform changes??? Congress should investigate if these Generals buy stock in the companies they will buy uniforms from.

It is LONG past time to cut MIC funding by 50%, get rid of the AIPAC/P.NAC imp3erialists and bring our troops home to actually protect us instead of acting like corporate mercenaries committing gen0c!d3.

America's military does not serve or defend our country any more, only our corporate interests.

Where does huffpost get its headline from? The source article they use mentions nothing about the Marines, much less any attempt by the Army to look "cooler" than them. Where is that quote in the headline even coming from? And it's a sister AOL division's article, no less.
