There must be at least 600 students that attend this school. $1000.00 each should not be to hard for them to raise.

In related news: The US Government approves another $483,682 Billion to the War on Drugs, as the Tea Party representative said, "Those danged Pot growers are destroying our children!"

Where's is the return on the 600K? A pizza and coffee mug? Would this not just be a charitable donation.
06:22 PM on 07/02/2012
Yes, it would be.

A tax-payer supported school to absorb dollars and then flush them on ignorant useless sewage- which should be flushed
05:44 PM on 07/02/2012
Excuse me! No child is useless sewage that should be flushed!

You know it. Sad that some people would kick these kids to the curb. Evidence of our disposable society. Remember: Those punks from NY, who bullied that bus driver's aide were NOT from Alternative school...they were from an affluent school district, from affluent families. Maybe if those rich kids were forced to attend Alternative school, they might learn some manners and respect!

Here's an idea: let's lobby for death panels for ignorant useless youngsters/sewage. The campaign slogan will be "Throw little Johnny off a cliff".

You should petition for a commission that is going to be tasked with making decisions which Johnny or Jane is useless and ignorant.

you could turn it into a fund raiser and save the school at the same time!

No. It's an alternative school. Some kids who go to alternative school are there for behaviour problems. Some are there for excessive truancy/ lateness. Some are there because of fighting. Some kids go for a few weeks, in lieu of suspension. Some go after being released from juvenile detention facilities. The classrooms are smaller. The discipline is rigorous. For some students, this is the last chance before expulsion.

EBay Gestapo already shut the auction down. Right on schedule after the listing was getting some press and attention.

Two union strikes in recent years by teachers in this economy???

Pitiful.
05:40 PM on 07/02/2012
Hard to figure out what's going on here, actually. The article could have been a whole lot more informative if it had stated why the union had the strikes. Were they over pay or pensions (maybe the administration was unilaterally trying to take away benefits)? Or working conditions (were the teachers being asked to increase class size - in a school for "at risk" students)? Or safety (were some teachers being threatened by students)? The article was very shallow and short on real substance. That's what passes for "journalism" nowadays.

"it is all for the children..." dontchaknow...

these alt. schools are pathetic there rewarded for being bad kids they do nothing all day from every person ive heard come out of one , there school lunch programs are top notch and have the best facilities most times not sure on this one
these schools are maintained better than publich high schools
06:03 PM on 07/02/2012
A lot of speculating on your part with a dislike for 2nd chance education and giving those students a fair chance in the world, truly a shame! The first thing to go in these programs is the lunches, the money is diverted when a school is having budget issues, get the facts and have some compassion.
06:13 PM on 07/02/2012
i have no compassion for children who go to these schools there in them for misbehaving and there rewarded with top of the line facilities and given the world on a silver plater yet AP students are hammered everyday my facts are correct these schools are a waste of tax money why give these kids a better chance than the ones who put all the work in?

Buy it and tear it down. Good for residential property.
