I really am tired of people assuming who real Americans are.  Last time I looked nobody in this race and a lot of people in both parties in Congress ever served in the military of this country.  A lot of them including Mr. Mitt were draft dodgers.  My family has sent more people to war than I care to think about.  My father served in WW II in the Pacific as  a gunner on torpedo  Read More...

I don't think Romney realizes he's a candidate for the highest office in the USA. Candidates have to answer questions, jump through hoops, make tax records available, state their positions on all the issues. He seems to have an agenda all his own for how his candidacy will play out. That's not bad enough. As he is refusing to do what he's expected to do he has people insulting the intelligence of Americans. First Ann refers to "you people", clearly setting up a barrier between them and us. Now his rep is trying to tell us what we are and are not concerned about. The ignorance and arrogance of MR and his campaign knows no end.

He has made his profit/loss analysis regarding being forthright about is business dealings and tax evasion with "You people." He has determined that there is no profit, only loss by doing so, which speaks volumes. It's not what people say, it's what they do!

You do understand that when Romney says real Americans he's talking about the rich ones. The poor folks with loved ones fighting overseas, well who cares about "those people."

You do understand that Romney didn't say "real Americans", right? It was one of his advisers.

If this senior adviser communications director Tara hall represents the Romney position on helping clarify Mitts plans for the country they have to resort to the Braille system. Every question that addresses the Romney's plan for his administration is responded with more vague dribble from Tara Hall. She continues to say the issue is jobs and the economy and then has nothing concrete or specific to say. When will the Romney Campaign start to state what they will do if given the chance to Govern. Every question she is asked is responded to by trying to dam the Obama administration for every fault in the Universe. This bob and weave, dazed and confuse strategy will not fool the american electorate. Has the Romney Campaign forgotten that he is REQUIRED to have a platform that defines what he will do for us. A commitment and timeline for accomplishing his administrations goals. Go to the Romney and GOP website it is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Its almost AUGUST.

On every issue and at every turn it appears clear to me that Romney does not have a clue about the far reaching scope of the job of being the President. All he does know is that he wants it and wants it bad and he somehow feels it's rightfully "his turn". That's just not good enough! In fact it's seriously lacking. He's not smart enough or savvy enough to handle the job. Sure, maybe he knew his job very well at Bain and was a good businessman that made tons of money. But being the Prez takes a lot more skills than that!

Yes, Americans want to get back to work - which would be easier if Romney hadn't invested so much money in the pioneers of tech outsourcing.

Once more Romney won't answer a question. What's up with this guy? At the same time he is back on his "real Americans" crap. I'm a real American and I am frustrated that he will not comment on most topics. He must be afraid that he will contradict himself once again - a realistic fear considering his record for honesty and "transparency".

Why is there no military service in Mitt's family? Don't you think he might develop a little empathy if someone he cared about had a family member at risk in a far-off land?
Hey, he has five sons! Any of THEM serve?
So, let me get this straight. Nobody in his family saw fit to serve in the military defending the freedoms that allow him to be so wealthy, WHILE he manipulates laws and money so he doesn't have to pay taxes that would contribute to the well-being of the country that allowed him, through its very taxpayer-supported infrastructure, to become a wealthy man. No, Mr. Romney. You did not do it all by yourself. You used our roads, ports, rails, airports, our public-school educated populace, court system, fire and police protections, and our hospital/medical system. All of these operate with taxpayer support. Pay your fair share of taxes, Mr. Romney!
We need to know just how much you reeaaallly LOVE this country. If you love your country, you abide by its laws and pay the taxes due according to law agreed to in democratic process. I find it rather shocking you think it appropriate to park money off-shore and manipulate it in such a way as to avoid taxes and then call yourself an appropriate candidate for highest office in the land.

Kateslate, I feel the same as you on all these things. I, for the life of me, can not see why ALL AMERICA can't see this man for what he is. He has NOTHING TO OFFER, EXCEPT PROMISING TO ''END'' what is GOOD FOR THIS COUNRY. He keeps harping on the economy and jobs, BUT he offers not one word of suggestion on how to do it NOW, nor what he WOULD do if elected. When you look at the economy and our jobs situation, it HAS been getting better, which in itself, is a MIRACLE. It is ALSO one of the areas of responsibility for our President which he, alone, can do little about, without MONEY, which must be approved by Congress, AND THEY WON'T APPROVE A DIME. They cite the ''debt'' problems we have, but how can you pay down the debt without JOBS? Since Congress KNOWS ALL THIS, why are they ''blaming'' Obama for what they KNOW he can't do? Why is Romney promising that HE CAN do something? Is there a conspiracy to have Congress hold off on Jobs Bills until AFTER THE ELECTION? All Republican legislators should have been relieved of their jobs the minute their ''leader'' said they "would not sign anything else ''FOR OBAMA'' for the rest of his term in Office.

F&F to you for saying clearly and eloquently what people refuse to acknowledge about our President. He has accomplished many things as you pointed out and he has been blocked and stonewalled by Congress in what has to be an effort to make Obama look like the one who doesn't want to get anything done. An economy can't be completely turned around in 3 1/2 years. Pres. Obama deserves more time to do his work.

I guess what she means is the "Real Americans" are rich. Their kids don't go to fight wars, so why should "Real Americans" care about Afghanistan policy when there is a chance that the taxes on their millions of income could go up 3%? I mean, if you are barely making it on $1,000,000 after taxes, how the heck are you gonna survive on $970,000?

Ms. Wall certainly has some political and broadcast journalism experience; however she came off unpolished, stammering, and stumbling through this. Very week on her talking point. Now, I am "going to go there..." Placing an African American woman out-front as a Senior Spokesman, is that supposed to make rabid anti-Obama "white America" feel better? I'd love to hear what a (favorite) broadcast journalist of mine, who happens to be an African-American woman Melissa Harris-Perry thinks.

The US policy on Afghanistan has a lot to do with stability operations --not the kind of 'combat' operations people are thinking of. in 2003, the Afghans adopted a phase Afghan National Development Strategy (ANDS) where international partners like NATO could help assure stability while Afghanistan identifies priorities for implementation from the local to national level. --- So, as an Afghanistan Veteran who lost (1) troop KIA and 7 (WIA) to attacks -- while we were trying to facilitate ANDS I tell this lady -- she doesn't know what she is talking about.

That's right. Because real Americans don't care that American men and women are still dying over there. They don't care that we're spending billions on a war with no point. They don't care that our sons and daughters are coming home broken in body and mind.

The media circus may not keep the seemingly unending war at the top of the news cycle but I do care and I think the rest of my fellow "real Americans" do too. And if Romney doesn't care, or doesn't think it's important then any claim he ever had that he "supports the troops" or that he is ready to play in the arena of global foreign policy then he should take his toys and go home. Because he is CLEARLY not a real American.

Mr. Romney, I CARE.

As a person with many veterans in my family, I care deeply about our involvement in Afghanistan or any other war. The losses pile up for military families, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually, and veterans are not yet treated as they should be on their return, although I understand it's a work in progress. Our next president should be as focused on veterans' Michelle Obama and Dr. Biden are. It's shameful that veterans are homeless and struggle with severe health and emotional issues. We can do better than this.

I CARE about our involvement in Afghanistan as an American citizen who thinks Halliburton benefits greatly when we are at war, and am very concerned about the financial burden of conducting this war. I have always wondered how much defense contractors' and pentagon-connected corporate financial gain factored into going to war from the start.

I CARE about Afghanistan as a human being. We are approaching 2000 deaths of American soldiers, over 15000 wounded, over 440 billion of your and my hard-earned tax money, and approaching 4000 days in Afghanistan in this war with seemingly no end.

I hate war and everything connected to war. I hate what it does to everybody in the world. I hate that world leaders resort to violence in their quest for money and power. Are we not beyond a need to be violent with one another as human beings?

There is nothing good about war. Not one damned thing.
04:16 PM on 07/20/2012
Ah yes. Those "fake Americans" who have friends or family serving our country in a foreign war aren't worth pandering to, I guess.

Let's make Romney the first Republican in a while to lose the military vote.
