"Nobody loves Apple products more than I do. I've got an iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone and four iPod shuffles. But as a progressive who is concerned about the job security of Americans I hate the fact that Apple chose to offshore the assembly of its products to China and plan to boycott them until they "reshore" their products to the United States."

If Apple brought the assembly jobs back to the US your beloved Apple products would cost quite a bit more. Then you would be complaining that now Apple products are too expensive and to combat the losses Apple moves the manufacturing back overseas...you can not have it both ways, so pick. And most people will pick the cheapest over putting a fellow US citizen to work at a higher cost to themself...

The software is already made in the US or other rich countries and they overcharge you for the hardware big time. Their profit margin is big enough for them to move all production to rich countries, maintain their current prices and still make a hefty profit. Other companies that sell cheaper PCs would maybe have to raise their prices, but not Apple.

Formontoya ... You are correctas to the average middle class worker that wants their cake and eat it too. Every time we buy products made outside the USA, we impact the American middle class worker both directly and indirectly. And yet, the middle class worker continues to hope, if not believe, that his or her job won't be impacted. That simply is foolish, wishfully thinking. It is only a matter of time and experience, which moves swiftly in today's world, before someone outside the US is ready to not only perform factory tasks but even more skilled tasks within the such as medical, engineering and legal services

U.S. Consumers must by U.S. Made products. Its the only.strategy that will work. Consumers must insist on u.s made goods. The politicians are on the globalization express. Wall street is driving. Dont buy a ticket. More jobs here means less welfare more taxes and more prosperity. You pay more in taxes for welfare than you save buying most foriegn made products. Your vote means nothing now. Your dollar does. Be a patriot and save yourself. Buy American as much as you can. Its our only hope.

American consumers have shown repeatedly to prefer to buy low cost products regardless of country of origin.

Sure, there are some militant, principled folks that take a stand and buy only American made goods. But they are few and far between.

In the SOTU the President called upon Congress to send him this legislation:

Tax companies for outsourcing. Give them tax breaks to bring jobs back or create new jobs here in the U.S.

He's still waiting for the legislation.

This is so simple it's a tragedy nobody listens.

When pressed, the president failed to provide a specific outline of a proposal for taxation of outsourcing. It's a political minefield that no politician seems willing to address. Many will talk about the concept. But none wish to provide a proposal. Doing so creates very specific and powerful enemies. And our politicians are cowards.

Apple does employ quite a few Americans. Have you been to Cupertino?

I wish they would try a great experiment and manufacture just one product here in the U.S. I know the logistics are difficult - how do you get 100,000 people to flock to a factory location as they do in China? But, Apple, please, just try.

Oversupply of nurses forces them to pay to work for free - Special Reports - GMA News Online - Latest Philippine News

"...The scheme has been “rampantly practiced all over the country" for many years now, added Alvin Cloyd Dakis, national president of the Alliance of Young Nurse Leaders and Advocates International (AYNLA).

Citing statistics from the Professional Regulatory Commission, Dakis said the number of unemployed and under-employed registered Filipino nurses is estimated to range from a low of 160,000 to a high of 200,000.

“With hundreds of thousands of unemployed licensed nurses desperate for work, thousands of them went to hospitals to pay for the limited volunteer nurse slots or to train in order to gain bedside clinical experience in exchange for certificates stating that they were nurse volunteers or trainees for a specific period of time," said Dakis..."

The revolution gene has been bread out of Americans.

The only thing that will change that is a severe shortage of affordable food.

It's hard to enjoy "American Idol" when there's a room full of people whose stomachs are growling.

The owner had been quoted in Boston Magazine as saying, `Unions have no place, in my opinion, in the heath care industry.' Quite a point of view for the host of an important Democratic Party event."

Bottom line: True Blue Democrats have got to switch their loyalties to the working class from the One Percent.

There are very few true Democrats left! The Rockefeller Republicans have infiltrated the Democratic Party and made it their own. They are doing Wall Street's bidding and being social progressives when it does not conflict with Wall Street's goals!

The Republicans and Clinton Democrats have written off the middle class!

Liberals are sure a hoot. They go and elect BO, who promised that 'I can fix the economy", and instead the economy is decimated by his policies, the poverty levels are reaching 40 year highs, the American dream (that you kids will have a better standard of living than you do) is all but dead for most people..
They name BO care the "Affordable Health Care Reform Act", and we are finding out that it is anything but affordable.

To sum up recent history
Bush with a Rep house - ADDED jobs (2001 to 2006)
Bush with a Dem house - LOST jobs (2007 to 2008)
BO with a Dem house - LOST jobs (2009 to 2010)
BO with a Rep house - Added jobs (2011 to now)

If you are concerned about jobs, vote dems out of the house.

You know, I am far more concerned with who broke the economy, than with criticizing how fast someone is taking it from -800,000 jobs per month to positive job growth.

Whatever you think of the progress, the fact remains that REPUBLICANS BROKE IT.

They won't even let Bush speak at their convention, a tacit admission.
03:42 AM on 07/25/2012
So what exactly has the republican house done since 2011 that makes you think it deserves any credit for job creation? Passing bills to rename post offices? Also, private sector job growth returned in february 2010. From 2001-2004 there were 26 months of job loss. I suppose you could say that bush inherited a recession, but by your logic you would then have to admit that Clinton with a Rep house= LOST jobs. and, you wouldn't be able to blame obama for a recession that was already well under way when he entered office.

If liberals don't care about the downward pressure on wages that unfettered trade begets, surely they should care about the pressure to turn back a century of hard fought and won protections on the environmental front?

Our free trade policies are being used by multi-national corporations as a way to both avoid our environmental protections and as a way to pressure us into giving up our environmental protections as a way to 'compete'.
It's really not that complicated.

"Made in USA" and "Made in China" labels may soon be replaced by:

"Made in the World" labels

http://www.manufacturingnews.com/news/11/0930/madeintheworld.html
European Technocrats May Soon Deprive Americans Of Knowing Where Everything They Buy Is Made

"The World Trade Organization, the OECD, the International Chamber of Commerce and the European Commission are moving aggressively to eliminate "Country of Origin" labeling, claiming that it does not reflect the current structure of global trade. The Europe-based
organizations instead want to adopt a "Made in the World" logo for all products on the grounds that global supply chains have rendered country of origin labeling inaccurate and obsolete.

The intent of the proposal is to reduce public pressure on politicians for protectionist trade policies..."
