Since when does the First Amendment apply only to gays, lesbians, minorities, atheists? Chick-Fil-A owners have the same rights as these "activists" and interestingly, are not instigating boycotts of THEIR businesses. Free speech is a two-way street, LGBT. Get over it.

Maybe it's time for the LGBT community to partner with KFC to out do Chick-Fil-Hate.

My husband always says...Hate the Sin...BUT...LOVE the Sinner" Maybe the Christians can love and pray for the gays and not keep pressing judgement; and the gays embrace the Christians as they truly believe in a God that will give them eternal Salvation. Even if gays do not believe in God and the Bible at least they can be assured that there is someone praying for them that if they come to the end of the road in their lives and decide they want to believe in God that they will find salvation and forgiveness for their ways. Forgiveness not from man but from God and all these laws regarding sexual preferences that come directly from the Bible in Leviticus Chapter 18. So, if we allow homosexuality then, we must allow incest (among all family members), bestiality, etc...where will it end?

From what I understand there are may Gay Christians. I feel that the people that are against what this man said are just wanting something to rave on and on about.
04:29 PM on 08/01/2012
Why is it anything that has to do with gay people is "shoved" into our faces and lives, whether we like it or not; whether we want it or not. All of a sudden the Christians that the liberals keep trying to silence speak out and get attacked. Gays and Christians alike are part of the American Body. Neither should be discriminated against. Neither should be given preference over the other. We are ALL Americans...no matter what. Why do we have gay days at Disney but not "Christians" day? Why do so many gays (like in the gay parades) have to be so vulgar and in appropriate in public around our children? I would like to be the one who chooses what my kids can or shouldn't see. We have night clubs in big cities that discriminate who can or can't come, so why can't Christians chose who to support in their businesses?

Do you allow your children to watch or attend KKK marches and parades?

No?

Then if you also disagree with LGBT marches, maybe you should not attend?

It IS, a Free Country after all. We can all agree to disagree - but how about we make the playing field even for All while we are at it?

You said it yourself, we are 'ALL' Americans.

How about ALL Americans get the same treatment and rights??
09:15 PM on 08/01/2012
JayyVee can you tell us all when and where you either attended or even heard of a KKK march or parade
04:07 PM on 08/04/2012
Hard to not attend when it is down the middle of your downtown so you have to avoid shopping that day or driving through downtown.
04:27 PM on 08/01/2012
I still think it is funny that hardly anyone has even read what the President of Chick-fil-A actually said. There was no mention of gay marriage. He wasn't asked anything about gay marriage. He didn't mention gays at all. He simply stated he supported the Biblical definition of tradition marriage. Then the media gets involved, people believe everything the media says, and all the sudden, Chick-fil-A is some horrible company that hates gays and discriminates against them and tramples on their rights. All this from saying they supported the traditional definition of marriage. Who really are the bigots here?

It's nice to know it is possible to find reasonable, educated, intelligent people online. Thank you for inserting a little rationality.

I agree, and my wife and I had a great lunch at CFA today, in support of a great company that stands by its biblical base.

Everyone keeps missing the point of this issue. It's not that the company and and president spoke out against gay marriage, the issue is the company made donations to organizations to FIGHT gay marriage...... to the tune of TWO MILLION DOLLARS. I get that their beliefs don't agree with the idea, but couldn't that money been much better spent then wasted on an issue that in no way affects their business. TWO MILLION DOLLARS wasted, people. They should have used that money for their own food bank....
05:38 PM on 08/01/2012
They don't believe they wasted any money AND it is theirs to spend as they please, just like you may spend your money as it pleases you.
07:22 PM on 08/01/2012
Exactly why I am NOT spending it at Chick Fil A. Thanks for making my point.

Money is power where you put your money gives it power, to help or power to harm.
In this case power to harm by giving the money to the christian church of hate.
05:42 PM on 08/01/2012
The only hate I have read on this issue has come from the liberals spouting pro-LGBT beliefs and anti-Christian rhetoric.

The only Hate I have read on the issue, comes from those that continue to deny rights to those different from them, based solely on 'Religious' reasons which means Poop in American Law.

Thank goodness for separation of church and state. I bet the Religious Right just HATE that part of the Constitution..

This entire Chick-Fil-A gay marriage controversy is inane, not to mention counter-productive. Use your heads people. Chick-Fil-A, as a company does nothing to discriminate against the LGBT community. True, the owner of the company doesn't believe in gay marriage, based on his religious beliefs, but those who want to silence him are demonstrating that they only believe in free speech for those with whom they agree. If your goal is to cut their corporate profits so that the owner will have fewer funds to donate to the causes he believes in, then you are failing miserably. By making such a big deal of it, you will actually increase their profits. Did anybody bother to look at a map of where most of the franchises are? In 2011 there were 251 stores in Texas....155 in Florida....191 in Georgia....143 in North Carolina. Contrast that with 42 locations in California....1 in New York....1 in MA.....1 in NH. The fact of the matter is that this company doesn't really care what people in the "liberal" states think, and that all this free publicity will increase business in their core areas. The people in those core areas are supporting the business in droves. Again.....try using your heads folks.

Regardless of political/religious beliefs (that have sadly become one in the same), there are so many people in need of food that it shouldn't matter where it comes from. Even if it is the devil.

This is to gfgarv .Hate is hate, stop spreading it under your oh so magnanimous belief that only you know what is right. Christians have the right for their views even if you do not like them. You want the food bank to suffer because it is for the public good? I didn't know the food bank was questioning people as to their sexual preference before they passed out food. But I see your point, it is better for a child to go hungry than take a chance the food was donated by a Christian. Eat well and ? But still hate is hate and it is not good for Christians, Gays, Atheists, boys, girl, men, women, those not sure what they are, Russians, Muslims, Hindus, and anybody else I missed. Stop hating, accept people may have different views than you and work together so we all can live in harmony. PLEASE.

Sorry.....this is so wrong. People boycotting a corporation because the owner said he believed in his faith's definition of "marriage". Most restaurants are franchises, which means they are small businesses employing local people. The people working there are making minimum or just over.

Who gets hurt? The small business owner and the employees.

Why didn't anyone boycott Obama after he gave this interview? He said the same thing..."I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. For me as a Christian, it's also a sacred union."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6K9dS9wl7U

I still can't believe the gay community fell for Obama's "revelation". Man, all he said was (sheepishly) "I believe gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry".....

Never said a word after that. No rallying cries outlining a plan to push this through, just one sentence and the gullible masses fall yet again for his bull. How is his "belief" going to push anything through?

He's saying what you want to hear before the election. If he's re-elected, he'll abandon the gay community like he did four years ago......because it won't matter to him.

Dan Cathy has an opinion that you don't agree with.......welcome to life. I think it's quite hypocritical to scream for the right to marry while trampling on the rights of others who disagree you. That's not the America I know.......

How are your rights being trampled on? You "Crazy Christians" are always worried that somehow "The Gays" and "The Lesbians" are forcing their lives on you when it is totally the opposite. Are you so weak that being exposed to gays will lead you or your kids into the arms of a same sexed partner? I was exposed to heterosexuals all of my lfe but I never wanted to be one. I guess you think that God makes mistakes or that God wants you to step in and take over for him since he ,obviously, does not know how to handle life on Earth (you know..that he created?). Keep you religious beliefs to your self. Arrogance is not part of any bible I've read. Ding bat.

What Chik Fil A does with the food drive is admirable.

Their President's opinion on "traditional marriage" may be his own and he's certainly entitled to his free speech, but if he didn't think that would have an impact on the business then he's not very bright.

Mistakenly marked as favorite.I was not that he's not very bright. He was being interviewed by a Christian publication who had asked for his views. We live in a country where not only do 50% of the people have those views, but we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. There would have been no impact on his business if the media had not blown it out of proportion. Our President claimed to have the same exact views for three and a half years. Where was the outrage from the public (and from Rahm Emmanuel?)

All of a sudden this is a so-called controversy? When President Obama said exactly the same thing that marriage is a union between a man and a woman was it a controversy at that time I think not. If a Muslim and/or a Jew would say the same thing would that be a controversy, I think not. Oh I see, certain politician don’t have the stomach to discuss real problems so they are using this manufactured controversy as an excuse.

The worst part was he said it in an interview with a Baptist publication. He didn't go on CNN and start ranting and raving. The liberal media found out what he said in the interview and took it national.

"Hey.....the devout Baptist told the devout Baptist newspaper, which is distributed to other devout Baptists, that he thinks marriage is between a man and a woman".

Wow......

I can't imagine what will happen if the Pope announces he's against gay marriage.......I mean, he's all for it, right?
