he is asking to keep the 7 million dollar condo and 62 million ...he claims it is not his , but his wife's..

Same way Fuld sold his Florida home to his wife for $100.... Please.
She withdrew 15 million dollars the DAY BEFORE this all went down.
She knew oh she knew...
I don't care if it was her money or the dogs, last name is Madoff. She has being living off his lies and basic robbery. That makes her an accessory to the crime....
There is NO way that he did this all by himself. NO WAY.

Bye Bye millions... and get out of that Penthouse.

Ahhhh...the old "it's my wife's'' trick. You'd think he could be more original than that.

Regardless of how big or large is kind of moot. The fact is lots of people and organizations were wiped out. Plus it's not just Madoff, as the articles states. There are so many of them and the numbers are very big. AIG will probably turn out to be the biggest fraud, as well as the banks. So far we're not seeing too many heads roll or being held accountable. Some, like Cuomo, are trying. If I were an investor I would not have the confidence to invest in the stock market until I start seeing the indictments. Then I would know that someone has an interest in cleaning this mess up and running a clean operation.

I totally agree Samalabear, not only are heads not rolling but a lot of the crooks are still in place guarding the henhouse...it makes no sense because there is no logic to what's going on just grand theft by (it seems) EVERYONE IN POWER POSITIONS.

it is closer to $100 billion as claims from israel, europe, russia & asia continue to trickle in.

madoff did a very good job sheltering most of his money through various offshore banks, holding companies & laundry houses.

we may never know the final figures nor will most of the cash be recoverable.

Let's be clear...

$50 billion, $17 billion or $1 million, it doesn't change the fact that he is a thief. Those who were on the wrong end of his scam are still victims and, last time i looked, justice meant something in this country.

The "lesser of two evils" mentality this articles is trying to portray is almost as ad as Madoff himself.

only $17 billion, that would make him a kinder gentler thief.
