Kinda like the "free ride" that Mitt Romney gets on his Federal Income Taxes?
12:58 PM on 08/17/2012
Not without permission or paying royalties, something the Romney campaign obviously believes they are above.

Let them have their song back. They are a stupid little band to make a decision not to be heard on a national venue. There are plenty of bands that would love to be associated with Romney. Kick them aside. I wouldn't buy their music now if you paid me to do it--what stinkers!!

You really should take greater care of hiding your ignorance. The article told you the song was a 2009 smash hit. Sounds like you have a lot in common with the delusional GOP. The band is basically telling
Romney "Dude. It sucks to be you ".

A true GOP point of view. When caught doing something wrong, name call and point the finger at another.
And to your point, where are all these bands that you fantasize about that want to be associated with Mormon Mitt?
10:32 AM on 08/17/2012
Silly, egotistical, immature.
When they fade they'll be begging any one to play their stuff.
11:38 AM on 08/17/2012
If they do fade, at least they stuck with their principles. I wonder if Mr. Romney would be able to say the same when he fades?

Here goes this comment again: It was legal: "the use was legal because it was covered under a blanket licensing agreement." Happy now?

"Smiling Faces Sometimes" by Undisputed Truth would be a great song for Mitt Romney.

Don't forget the O'jays song, "Money, Money, Money".
There's a line in the song that says, "Some people will sale their own souls, for a small piece of paper that carries a lot of weight".

If you haven't heard the group, you really need to do that. I hadn't heard of them until yesterday but after checking them out on youtube, I bought two CDs and checked their concert schedule. One of the things that really got me glued is that there is a girl on bass and she plays it like the boys only wish they could. This isn't a band for the NASCAR demographic. So it's unlikely that they'll incur any negative result from their rejection of the Romney campaign. In fact, I think it's just the opposite. Their fan base looks nothing like the people who support Romney.

For my part, had I been a fan of the group before now and I saw their music being played at a Romney event, I'd contact the group and raise heck! That's probably what prompted them to respond the way they did. They don't want to lose fans. But they sure as heck are gaining some with this move.

"Smiling Faces Sometimes" by Undisputed Truth would be a great song for Mitt Romney.

Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend
Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof

The truth is in the eyes
Cause the eyes don't lie, amen
Remember a smile is just
A frown turned upside down
My friend let me tell you
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth, uh

I'm telling you beware, beware of the handshake
That hides the snake
Listen to me now, beware
Beware of that pat on the back
It just might hold you back
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof

Regardless how they obtained the song, owning a music collection does not give one the right to use it for any purpose other than personal use without paying for the rights and royalties.

I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG BUT THE TITLE IS PERFECT FOR ROMNEY'S PATHETIC CAMPAIGN!!!

There's a guy named Stephen Stubbs who sings a song called: "Taxes Are Best When You Pay Nothing At All"

PERFECT FOR ROMNEY-HOOD AND ROBBING-RYAN!

You would think this bunch of relative unknowns would be happy for the exposure. Of course, now they're getting plenty of attention for. Do you think they might have planned that?

Sure they did, like Obama's mom planned to travel to Kenya from her residence in Hawaii to have her baby in a foreign land and rush back in time to get a byline in the the local newspaper 50 years ago just on the off-chance she could stir up a scandel for her presidency-bound baby...

jeez.

The ideal campaign song for Romney to use would be Steve Miller's "Take The Money And Run".
09:40 AM on 08/17/2012
They actually would love to use that song, but it might seem a bit too "in your face" as it were.
