Putin is the architect of his own demise. The stupidity of dictators is always stunning. Everyone saw this coming but Putin.

No, he does not, at least not for this. If you are going to hate the Presdient so many Russians still consider the best leader they have had since Catherine the Great, find a better reason. Such as his invasion and occupation of Georgia.

The world always changes when women and girls fight back. That's why religion, patriarchy, violent misogynists/criminals and oppressive governments exist, in the first place.

That more women don't fight back is the true sadness.

Putin best achievement in the first 100 days, is shutting down the NGO and impose restriction on them in addition to audits where their funding is coming from.

Nobody took over his presidency especially not the 3 convicted criminals who are going to jail for 2 years.

Russia likes their leaders strong, just look at their history, from Ivan the Terrible, Peter, Catherine the Great, to Lenin, Stalin, Brezhnev and now Putin.

There are better ways to be strong.

There are, but those leaders tended to die young in Russia. The man at the top really does have to impose fear just to stay alive. Alas, it has been like that since the Mongol Conquest, with only fitful motions towards change since then.

Those girls remind me of out-of-control teenagers.

They want to be seen and heard and they will do anything, even anything that is dangerous to them and those around them, to get attention.

I'm just sad that the press seems to be fixated on covering what is in fact, like Putin said, "hooliganism".

They train these people into the mindset of subservience to "authority" that hides itself behind the abuse of the state...

Are you serious? I would expect a comment like that on a right wing site, but not here. Please school me on the harm they did by performing an anti-putin song in a church. No one, AND I MEAN NO ONE, should be put in jail for something so ridiculous. And that you seem to have no qualms with it, you are part of the problem.

No, anyone who commits such blasphemy should be put away. It is a major fault of our system that we consider such outrageous blasphemy "free speech".

Yep..this is the kind of stuff they taught us when we were kids, that separated us from them. Why we're so much better as a society than those guys. We can stand up to our government and tell them what we want them to do. And not put up with being pushed around by a bunch of bullies...like over there in Russia. And not be involved in "Class Warfare".

But these days, we citizens have about as much clout as a Deer Tick snorting DEET, compared to the elite group of big money guys that rule the roost. If we do stand up and complain about it, they call it "Class Warfare". Trying to turn it around on us...as if we're the ones making the government not work...because we want our voices to be heard again. Who are we to be so impudent as to think we should have a say in our own government? Just who do we think we are anyway?

But if we don't have millions upon millions of dollars....the day after election day....we're worth less than an empty soda can to those guys we just helped get elected. And now they'll do their best to take more away from us...and give more to their already wealthy cronies. Do I think it sux? You betcha.

We live in a western culture of propaganda that has worked over the American people for generations now to become docile compliant worker drones to the financial elite and government..the government are the henchmen of the Oligarchy money handlers and see the people as an exploitable resource to be managed controlled and manipulated.. Protesting here has the same repercussions now that all the draconian laws are in place to stop any future protests....look how Americans government and news media slanted everything from Occupy wall street...Look how they handle whistle blowers that expose the corruption. NO we have an illusion of democracy now.....Russian people are dealing with the same problem that the worlds elite have taken full control and will protect the state from its own people SAME THING HERE....JUST A DIFFERENT FASHION FACADE

Best area in the world now, there's even a couple really great and free democracies out that have surpassed America in most ways. But outside of that, even Russia with its Putins and stuff are a much, much nicer and more promising place to be right now than the US.

Further evidence that things haven't really changed much since the collapse. The Cold War mentality is still pushing the buttons and justifying it by our own exploits in the Middle East.

Let the girls go Vlad....and maybe do a music video with them about all the corruption and gangsterism in your country.
