I guess they're trying to show that a month-old fetus has a better developed brain than Todd Akin. I'm sure it does - still not a person.

Since Akin and his ilk consider embryonic and fetal life to be equivalent to born life, with all the attendant rights, shouldn't he face legal action for not obtaining a model's release for the use of the fetus' photograph? And good thing it wasn't a full-body shot - that could be child porn!

We all make mistakes when we're putting something together, the only thing I can say to defend this...politician. Why not a photo of a young child run over by a tank, or blown apart from stepping on a mine?

If they can't get contractions right, why don't they just do without them, and talk like Data in Star Trek? Akin is increasingly looking like a robot, but not a particularly smart one.

I am no champion speller so I'll forgive that but showing a photo of a fetus is unnecessary and to me shows this man inhabits a parallel universe and should not be in any position of responsibility. Even dog catcher. And I don't mean to disrespect dog catchers.

It's not the campaign's fault! Todd Akin's handlers felt a sudden need to go out and buy rubber gloves.

Todd Akin as any Republican believe....woman are nothing more than "baby factories" and used for sex only. Akin and all Republicans believe .... America needs a greater surplus....of many more kids....to keep the a great surplus of poor hungry kids to drive down wages for all Americans.

No, what they need is more citizens to put in prison and send off to war. Nobody thinks they are going to use their kids to make money.....their kids go to college, everybody elses kids do the dirty work.

Yea, I don't see any of Romney's kids in the military or doing charity work in a 3rd world country or even championing any causes other than doing something that makes them richer. Romney wants a war with Iran--will any of his kids "join up" to fight the good fight? Don't hold your breath.

Sorry, but you overestimate the intelligence of those that elected him. Trust me, I was born and raised in Missouri. Rush Limbaugh's hometown, no less.

If you really don't like Akin - then sign his petition to make sure he stays the Republican candidate only so it will be that much easier for a Democrat to beat him...
11:40 AM on 08/22/2012
I actually considered that, but then I'd be subjected to endless and apparently misspelled propaganda and I don't think I can handle that.

I find it interesting how Missouri is not a battleground state (and this election comes down to 10 states) and people can't look away from the train wreck. Is he a radical because he represents the people of his district in Missouri?! He's not running for office in the Bay Area or NYC where his story doesn't play. I've lived in both the conservative south and liberal east coast corridor and there are drastic differences in in all aspects of life. Just because you can't 'relate' to his position doesn't mean he's a radical. His words were harsh and uncalled for and there is not defending him. Thankfully i don't live in Missouri so don't have to worry about casting a ballot.
11:32 AM on 08/22/2012
.

Most people never see the train wreck coming. Only the person at the front.

Missouri is a battle ground state, just not this election cycle. I'm a Missourian (Democrat), but I can tell you that even given all this negative press, this will still be a close race as the rural areas vote right-wing Christian. While Claire will clean up in KC and STL, he will be a hero in rural counties.

"Todd Akin (R-Mo.) launched a new section of his website that asks supporters to sign a petition telling his opponent, Sen. Claire McCaskill, that "You're Standing With Todd Akin."

THE SAME PERSON can sign a petition like this over and over again. All you have to do is clear the browser cookies and go back to the petition using a different name.

Let's hope a judge can see that in court.
