The convention was about one thing: to push Romney into the limelight, so voters would say: Wow! This is our man!  That was a big FAIL! Eastwood stole Romney's show in a negative way, and Condi and his wife in a positive way.

Then there were the angry Paul supporters, who had been silenced by Romney's wrecking-crew for months. They showed America that not even the whole GOP stands behind Romney.  Read More...

I saw a tweet from Megan McCain that talked about how "awesome" the convention was, and how "proud" she was of the GOP. I said, "You obviously stayed in your hotel room the entire time."

The facts of 2012, however, are that Romney is causing such a crisis by building a campaign around voter disenfranchisement and fundamentally dishonest and racist campaign themes, and all of it funded with blank checks from secret donors.

Was anyone really excited by anything that anyone said? Unintentional comedy courtesy of Clint Eastwood doesn't count.

The reason the Republican National Convention was such a failure, is because all they did was bash President Obama. They didn't offer one idea or plan that would offer hope to Americans. The RNC was all smoke and mirrors and no substance.

The convention, as is the entire GOP campaign, is built on a foundation of negativity. The message that they conveyed was simple, they really don't like the President. They spent a ton of money to tell us something we already knew.

Mitt can take the loss, this is Obama vs. his mirror image, He will rake in tons of bucks from his corporate backers At the DNC while proclaiming his "triumphs" in this great economy.

Since CONventions are paid for with tax dollars (no , not completely,) they should be cut to one day only, in circumstances where the nominee is already decided.

You are right in validating Axelrod's judgment that the RNC was a complete failure.

Hey Ax....will Reverend Wright be going to Charlotte to give the invocation at the DNC?

As Barack's mentor once famously said, "those chickens are coming home to roost."

To the vast majority of Republicans, the convention was a smashing success. They felt good about themselves and their leadership. The vast majority have no idea what their leadership is actually going to do to make the country better (they haven't said specifically), but Republicans really believe their leaders are working in their best interests. That's probably true, too, if you're among a very small, elite group of people. The others just imagine they're part of the elite group, or with Romney/Ryan's leadership, they imagine they will be.

How can your convention be a "smashing success" when the tracking polls show you're leading when you go in, but trailing when it's over? How the heck did that happen?

Copy your post and use it again in 4 days, just substitute Obama and Democrats for Romney and Republicans. Most have already made up their minds on which way to vote. The winner will be the wealthy of either party. How much the rest of us lose, is yet to be seen.

Romney is a facade of a man--an outer shell with nothing inside! He is pure stone! He masquerades as a man, but there is nothing there. He has no core--is a wooden puppet who will be controlled by the puppet masters: Carl Rove, Dick Cheney, the Koch brothers, Adelson, the NRA, and all the other corporate monopolies!! The election of Romney and Ryan will destroy democracy in America!

A great choice! Between the greater and the lesser evil. But, I think that Romney and Ryan will do more than destroy democracy in America, but will destroy America itself, and so I will do what I can to help Obama win! But, all your comments are valid, Sandi. Fan.

It was pretty lack luster aside from the moments of profound insanity such as the aging actor having a conversation with the empty chair.

Dems should give Ron Paul some time to speak this week. It would go a long way for some people. Ron cares about his message so much and here's a chance to get it out there.
10:37 PM on 09/03/2012
Democrats really are not into social darwinism that Paul espouses. Not too keen on setting aside over two hundred years of federal court precedent to put religious edicts in place of personal freedom either.
12:18 AM on 09/04/2012
They should also give him an empty chair.
