the africanized bees was a research project gone awry..if these things get loose in the population and start breeding I would be afraid they would get into homes and buildings and become a worse nightmare then their filthy cousins that plague people

Right, because there are no cockroaches already in buildings and, of course, the cybernetic attachments are now programmed into their DNA and will be reproduced with the offspring.

Essentially it is the first glimmer of the eventual Roachnet that will send strongly muscled Roachinators into the past to destroy mankind.

Um, what exactly do you think is going to happen if they breed? It's not like their offspring are going to be born with miniature transistors embedded in their backs, you know.

The worst that will happen is that there will be a few more roaches in the world.

The reasoned, considered, logical part of my brain thinks this is brilliant. The reactive, emotional part is suddenly feeling sympathy for a cockroach. Huh.

Sorry, I'm just missing the sympathy part for the roach. They do not have any feelings - too few ganglia to comprise anything even close to a brain. They are just reactive biological machines.

"The nervous system of cockroach consists of a series of fused, segmentally arranged ganglia joined by paired longitudinal connectives on the ventral side. Three ganglia lie in the thorax, and six in the abdomen. The nervous system of cockroach is spread throughout the body. The head holds a bit of a nervous system while the rest is situated along the ventral (belly-side) part of its body"

Ah, but your using your frontal cortex to arrive at this rational conclusion. Somewhere back there your limbic system is unwittingly anthropomorphizing the little guy.

I see a great movie concept here -- "RoboRoach"! Seriously, I never thought I'd feel sympathy for a _cockroach but I think that clip did it....
