Left vs. Right? Who cares? Against Cyberbullying
01:39 PM on 09/12/2012
It would be awesome for some of you to lighten up. This is an article about new technology. Quit ripping into people. It's cyber-harassment.
01:41 PM on 09/12/2012
It's not new. It's just an elongated 4s.
02:00 PM on 09/12/2012
Agreed! I think Samsung gave everyone the afternoon to rip Apple.
04:22 PM on 09/12/2012
You mean rip off Apple...
01:36 PM on 09/12/2012
Apple just took its greatest strength and flushed it down the toilet. 500,000+ apps now all letterboxed. LOL!

Red Lumia 920 here I come!
12:36 AM on 09/13/2012
No kidding, now all the developers are going to have to customize there apps if they want to stay competitive, I wonder what they all did when retina display came out? That must of put apple out of business.
01:04 AM on 09/13/2012
I see the point you are making, but things take time. Apple prides itself on the user experience.  No matter how you spin it, letterboxing is not a good experience.  I guarantee you, there will be developers that won't update their apps for a long time to ensure maximum compatibility.

Repetition doesn't transform a lie into truth

Wow! I haven't even got use to the iPhone4s. Apple BigBrother, should I go and sign a new two-year contract so I can practice smart-phone envy with all the other lemmings. Dear, feudal corporate overlords, would you permit a little trickle down so my adjusted income will reach near 1992 levels so I can transfuse it to AT&T for my monthly fix? Time to get a clue suits! We need $$$ to purchase unecessary consumer non-durables...

They should setup the iPhone5 so that when you first turn it on it plays a short video of Foxcon slaves jumping off of the factory roofs.

I understand why people who like the product are excited.

I don't understand why it upsets the people who don't like it. People spend their own money on all sorts of goofy things, from houses they can't afford to shoes that cost twice the price of any smart phone to new cars every year. But you almost never hear people express so much disgruntlement about those the way you do about this. It's a phone, people.

The Puritan streak runs strong in America.
01:29 PM on 09/12/2012
It's a phone. But shouldn't hypocrisy be pointed out? Huffpo condones free speech right? As long as arguments are reasonable of course.
02:54 PM on 09/12/2012
Free speech has nothing to do with privately owned forums.

But in as much as people can gripe about iphones for whetever weird reasion they have, people can complain about their whining too.

People are bitter about affairs that don't concern them, don't affect them and then mutter about free speech when someone points out their bad character. I couldn't agree with you more. Just as the want their free speech honored for them to harass and abuse people for personal life decisions, they forget that they are the biggest freedom nazis.

Listen up! I made a comment about how I didn't want to buy Apple or i-anything till they helped the workers who made their products. No one seems to talk about it, so I wanted to put it out there.

From the remarks I have gotten, most of you don't care about the background of how your products are made. The products continue to be made and people will buy them, and it's been a success.

But since mine is only one voice, I am confused at the negative reaction I have gotten from such small remark.

It's not up to anyone but myself to make those decisions to my own clear conscience.

I stand by it. My money my choice.

You and your desires to have the product, no matter what the actual cost to it are winning, so maybe you all can back off from this one, small, tiny voice.
01:27 PM on 09/12/2012
You realize that a lot of "your money" is spent on products that are made in a similar fashion? I will gladly take my words back if you have no interaction with the outside world and if you actually designed and welded the computer you are using.

It's ok that you don't want the iPhone, but your assignment of certain values to this decision and to people who love Apple is strange.

Wow... you are saying I have to justify my opinions by teling you how involved I am in the world? I am not someone who is sequestered in a dark room with only my computer. I have a life and a family. I worked on my first political campaign 40 years ago. I give to charities, I volunteer my time and money to food banks in my community. I care about my friends, family, and neighbors.I get my news from 7 sane places to get them., I am not an idealogue. I can see others postiion as well as my own. I make a 2 line comment and you all lose your minds.

((most of you don't care about the background of how your products are made.))

Don't you care about boycotting Foxconn's other major customers, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, and Nintendo, or just Apple?
Sorry, can't take you seriously.

Try again...

you do realize that is almost never the case.. those that upgrade, usually wait 3-4 years to upgrade, and by then, it actually is an upgrade, not a fashion statement. but that might blow your self-important world-view right out of the water, and then what would you be left with.. ?
