My dad let me have swigs of his Molson's when i was real young. I remember hating the taste, and him laughing at the face I made. Many years later, I like a drink now and then, but am no alcoholic.

I think it has left out other factors. Putting whiskey in a sippy cup is a lot different than what most parents allow.

Well my parents will let me have like a sip of wine sometimes. My dad is jewish so for some holidays we pass around a cup of wine and all drink from it because it's part of the tradition. I don't think that that is going to make me become an alchoholic or anything.

Come on now, How many have tried pot, cocaine, others? It is absolutly nobody's business what parents give to their kids. It is part of the parenting process which differs from family to family. Asking children about home life is not part of their education, it IS an intrusion on private citizens lifestyles. Actually it is coercion to skirt the 5th Amendment, the right to not self incriminate. Studies like this. IF, that is what they are, need to be outlawed, so they don't become common practice. Who knows what else children will be used for in the future?

I usually refuse to answer these, or I make them as rediculous as possible, usually ending up suspended for it for "Insubordination."

I think they need to clarify a little more. "Already had beer, wine, or other alcohol" makes it sound like parents are letting their kids take shots at parties or something ridiculous. I distinctly remember having a sip off of my uncle's beer at a family reunion once when I was in like first grade. Technically I had "already had beer" by 3rd grade, but it's definitely not as extreme as the wording of the article makes it sound.

I agree with you, my dad used to give us a sip of his beer occasionally when we were quite young. It must not have hurt me since I'm in my fifties now and don't drink at all.

Some religions use wine in a similar manner.
