You could have a milliom dollar machine but it will NEVER make a great cup of coffee unless you have great, pure, mineral free water. Coffee is 90% water. That is where IT ALL starts.

OMG, I am concerned since our kids and their spouses always have and always must have the latest most expensive gizmo's. Mind, this does not mean those giz's are any darn good, not does it mean once their eager little hands get them they use them. Often, like their mother, the stuff accumulates in winds up collecting dust. We've always enjoyed all the gourmet but in recent years crazy combos fad foods seem to have taken over good old fashioned delicious 'stuff'. Eleven - thousand seems just a tad more than I'd spend to pee!

I read Apple and quit caring after first paragraph. It'd be way more cool if it was an Android coffee maker for 1/1000th of the price.

The first two paragraphs were all I could read, it wasn't getting to the nitty gritty quick enough for me. Basically when I read this headline I assumed it was some NASA coffee machine to take with astronauts into space (especially or 11 thousand dollars). Feel free to write me a breif description on what it really is, that would be appreciated.

No don't mean the military with their $1000 toilet seats and $500 hammers? Mention the word NASA and the price goes up 20 fold, ABOLISH NASA now and save the tax payers BILLIONS of dollars.

If the military doesn't requisition $1,000 toilet seats and $500 hammers, how are they supposed to fund their off the budget covert ops.

Do they have the same control over the picking of the beans, the roasting, storage etc. I guess not, so it will still give different flavour between cups.

Which makes this machine a joke.

Most Americans have no idea what good coffee means. It is not something from Starbucks. Go to italy, or Vienna. If you have the money and are willing to spend it, get 1 cup of Civet coffee. It is considered the best in the world. Don't read about its origin tho

Oh please, enough with your coffee coolness. All you will find in Europe (and most of the world) are espresso based coffee drinks. Americans like their brewed coffee. And why on earth would I purchase an overpriced coffee bean that has been dug out of dung?

Who would want the same cup of coffee no matter what the origin? This machine is about delivering the best cup of your preferred coffee and roast profile.

American coffee is considered bad tea in a lot of places. Ever tried a Turkish coffee? At least that is original. Most people think it is too strong.

Maybe because when their work day is done they want to do something fun. What is useful and practical to one person may not to be useful or practical to the next. Variety and choice are nice to have.

Pretty expensive for what looks like it is the same as a French Press coffee maker.

I'm not a coffee affictionado, but I do know that the VERY first thing you need when making a good cup of coffee is clean, filtered water. You gotta get that chlorine outta there before doing all those other things he was talking about. Then you can proceed with that perfect cup of joe.

So this guy made a temperature controlled aeropresso with a timer. And it costs $11,000. You could do the exact same thing with a temperature controlled water heater, stopwatch, and aeropresso machine.
