I've already voted on an absentee ballot, but boy is this presumptuous. The only thing I could possibly imagine watching from any of these guys are Seinfeld reruns.

"My Susan, my dear Susan! I love her Jerry."
"No you don't."
"She'd make breakfast on the weekends....I don't know what she put in those eggs...it was the best."

"No it wasn't."
"My darling Susan! Oh hey....if you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world."

"Tell her I'm sorry."

"Tell her I need my baby..."

"Oh hey."

"George? I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."

My god, what a great show. Just... the best, Jerry! The BEST.

Nope, boycott the "debate". It's funded by corporations and organized by partisan political hacks. The two parties have signed a secret agreement that prevents any third party participants and lays out the "rules" of the scripted "debate". This is kabuki theater at its best.

Bring back the League of Women voters or some neutral party not these political hacks that want to prevent a real debate.

I did and will just like I boycott all TV News media. I'm sick of talking heads on both sides.

scripted? really? any evidence? I'm just curious...
11:18 AM on 11/01/2012
it's scripted in the sense that the two parties control every detail of the debate and keep third parties out. In the past the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan group, managed the debates but the two parties couldn't "control" them so they created a private corporation that took over the debates. George Farah has written a good book on the subject.

Not one comment-post made here will directly affect the election results in any way. Agree or disagree with the article, but take the focus off yourself and this forum, and instead put it onto the candidate by registering to vote and hitting the polls. Your comment here makes no difference. Your vote alone does.

"I sure don't need a bunch of 'stars' telling me what to do! What do they know about anything?? Next thing you know, they'll be urging people to send donations to places that have suffered catastrophes, thinking that because they're 'famous,' their words carry weight! Ha!"

I was all ready to attack the liberal slant but didn't find one (without being toooo discerning).. good job!

Oh.. ps.. Lincoln was a Republican.. just wanted to mention that..

Lincoln was a Republican, but Lincoln's Republican Party looked nothing like the twisted mutation that today's Republican Party has become. He'd be ashamed of what it has become... And for good reason!

Will people ever get this straight?! Abortions cannot be funded by the government - See the Hyde amendment.

LOL...I've know Rock Stars and also Actors and Actresses all my life and it cracks me up to be lectured by them...shallow just doesn't appropriately address them, our lexicon is deficient..

Well, I haven't known Rock Stars and Actors and Actresses all my life, and I don't believe in generalizing all of them under one umbrella. My sense is that if you get cracked up reading their opinions, you are needing to change your life. I didn't find their thoughts "shallow" at all. Nor did I feel lectured to. I just heard people expressing their concerns and beliefs concerning their country. It is still their country, you know.

Way to go, folks. Great message and, one would hope, an incentive to get the citizenry out to vote in November. Even I, living in bright red Texas, want my opinion to be tallied. If Romney wins Texas, at least I know my enthusiastic vote for Obama will assure that Mitt's win is lessened by one.

P.S., readers, Down-ticket contests MATTER!!!
03:43 AM on 10/04/2012
Thanks for that, TexanJane. I moved back here (for family) after being in the very Blue mid-atlantic for many years. If I focus on the redness of the area and *all it represents* - not just in the Lone Star State but surrounding all it's freakin' borders - I want to hold my head under water until everything fades from red to black.

(ok yes that was a little dramatic)

But I have a dream that Texas will be Blue someday. I don't know how long it will be before then, but the changing demographics demand it.

Even 'Luv Ya Blue' like the Oilers from back in the day!

So I give to the OFA campaign, vote down-ballot, and root them on to victory.
I know I'm not the only one and I'm glad to see your post.

Thanks celebs, but isn't it rather a moot point anyway? We've learned by now our votes don't really count, but rather Wall Street, A.L.E.C. and SCOTUS.

Still doesn't hurt to invest in the public discourse and be semi-informed. (Not that the debate will be very informative anyway)

It's easier to pretend I know a candidate, based on the completely unbiased reporting we've seen this election cycle, than to waste 90 minutes of my irreplaceable time hearing the candidate speak for himself.

Is it any wonder I wouldn't follow your cue?

Nice letter. Wish the press made more hay about the fact that 1/2 the country that is eligible to vote doesn't. That is an outrage!!!!!!! Republics make up such a tiny slice of the electorate and they wield so much power simply because people don't vote!!!

Get out and vote america!!
