Franklin is a worm. He's turning his Father. Billy Graham is still a good human.

I'm suprised that my comment pointing out the hypocrisy (not to mention heresy) in Billy Graham's position that homosexuality is more objectional to him as an evangelical Christian than polytheism did not make make it past the moderators. Perhaps they thought I was unreasonably critical of Mormon beliefs about which I actually could actually care less. Naively, I thought that Billy might actually be a Bible-believin' guy.

So, why listen to anything these guys have to say going forward? If one can change their position on the whim for political reasons then I say the one you report to is not God, but man (in this case Mitt Romney and his campaign). Lost all respect for Billy, Franklin Graham and his entire ministry.

LOST THAT A LONG TIME AGO, when he went to nixon to conspire against the jewish people in this country.

Maybe it's time to look at Graham's tax exempt status since this is purely for political expediency. You're not going to tell me they suddenly think the Book of Mormon is a path to Jesus.

This one seems perfectly relevant for the recent striking down (again) of DOMA as unconstitutional:

"Our civil rights have no dependence upon our religious opinions [any] more than our opinions in physics or geometry."

-Thomas Jefferson, Statute for Religious Freedom, 1779

"Turning, then, from this loathsome combination of church and state, and weeping over the follies of our fellow men, who yield themselves the willing dupes and drudges of these mountebanks..."

-Thomas Jefferson, to Charles Clay, January 29, 1815

"Turning, then, from this loathsome combination of church and state, and weeping over the follies of our fellow men, who yield themselves the willing dupes and drudges of these mountebanks, I consider reformation and redress as desperate, and abandon them to the Quixotism of more enthusiastic minds."

"The clergy, by getting themselves established by law and ingrafted into the machine of government, have been a very formidable engine against the civil and religious rights of man."

"If anybody thinks that kings, nobles, or priests are good conservators of the public happiness send them here [Europe]. It is the best school in the universe to cure them of that folly. They will see here with their own eyes that these descriptions of men are an abandoned confederacy against the happiness of the mass of people."

"In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own. It is easier to acquire wealth and power by this combination than by deserving them, and to effect this, they have perverted the purest religion ever preached to man into mystery and jargon, unintelligible to all mankind, and therefore the safer engine for their purposes."

-Thomas Jefferson to Alexander von Humboldt, December 6, 1813

An evangelical organization changing their beliefs based on their politics?

You don't say.

Why, it's like their religion and their politics are inseparable. Almost as if they're the same...

Things like this are what gave Jefferson such a hostility to the Church's interference in politics.

Frankly, I think they deserve each other.

They can both pretend they never disliked each other all the way to the bank.

Obviously the Orwellian God they both believe in endorses hypocrisy when it comes to power and money!

Graham's politics is more important than his claims of not compromising the word of god that the bible is gods final work not Book of Mormon . Now he claims Mormonism is in line with the bible ? What does this man really believe maybe its mammon the god of money ?!?
