This is great news and that our economy is steadily improving. Gotta hand it to Obama once again doing the right thing for our country. I know you rightwingers will come up with a whacky excuse to this really isn't good news. But whatever. I heard it all before - like many here at huffpo. We could care less so long Obama wins and its looking like he will.

Nothing whacky about a sudden surge in govenrment spending of almost ten percetnjust int ime to increase the GDP to a measly 2.0, or that most of the jobs are part time holiday work, nor that tens of thousands of requests were not reported by California because of backlog in proccessing.

So almost every city in the country saw unemployment fall despite the rampant Republican obstructionism and Romney continues to claim that somehow Obama can't improve the economy.

Romney-land is a strange, strange place.

"The rate has also fallen in previous months because many of those out of work have stopped looking for jobs and are no longer counted in the unemployment rate."

I do believe that the statement above is incorrect, the number no longer counted has not changed since last year:
In September, 2.5 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force,
essentially unchanged from a year earlier. (These data are not seasonally
adjusted.) These individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were
available for work, and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months.
They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work
in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. (See table A-16.)

Among the marginally attached, there were 802,000 discouraged workers in
September, a decline of 235,000 from a year earlier. (These data are not
seasonally adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking
for work because they believe no jobs are available for them. The remaining
1.7 million persons marginally attached to the labor force in September had
not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey for reasons such
as school attendance or family responsibilities.

Oh come on people it would all be fixed if Donald Trump would shave his head and get rid of his comb over, over, over, over and around. He should be Romneyed like the kid Mitt and his classmates traumatized for being different. That will fix everything, and make Romney feel as if he had the power he so craves.

"You see, by the lowering of unemployment, this actually means that Obama has murdered 2% of all of America's unemployed population in order for this to happen."

This dip is expected at this time of year... Retail is hiring its temporary seasonal workers, and, like years past, the rate will go back up when the stores no longer need the help. Yet, the MSM and HuffPo is giving this story the broad view instead of the real facts.

I wouldn't wait for one. We really don't need a bill that eliminates taxes on the rich, eliminates unions & lowers minimum wage.

Government Motors’ pathetic growth rate mirrors President Obama’s pathetic US economic growth rate - 2012 GDP growth thus far: 1.77%.

Well one can always discuss the 800,000 jobs lost monthly from the Bush administration and the fact that jobs created under Obama up till now are more than created by Bush over his entire 8 years.

History looks like this
03:06 AM on 10/31/2012
Bernanke is an authority on the Depression and has publicly apologized for the Fed's policy of tightening up the money supply after 1929. It's a mistake he doesn't intend to make.
10:28 PM on 10/30/2012
Excellent news. Jobs are up—this WITH the Republicans willfully doing everything in their power to impede and OBSTRUCT job growth—MERELY to make President Obama look bad, which just further attests to Obama’s supreme leadership and excellence. Obama has done everything in his power to create jobs, it’s working and this is the evidence. This must REALLY BURN Republicans, who care NOTHING for the American People, but their own corporate/bank handlers. Still, no Republican Jobs Bill yet. We’re still waiting! Indeed. FOUR (4) MORE YEARS! OBAMA 2012! Oh yeah, one more thing. Romney, we’re still waiting to see your tax returns (you criminal).

If your unemployment benefits expire you are no longer considered unemployed

everyone knows real unemployment is 15%
