It cracks me up that anyone thinks this is a good idea and I'm at a loss as to why they do it. Just attention? Totally intoxicated and don't care? A little of both? Do they think they're going to get in their car and just leave after the game? Cracks me up...

"who told CBS that he though Hurley might be on PCP or bath salts"
"A sheriff's office report later stated that he was not on drugs, but was drunk."

Oh, well, that's OK then. As long as he wasn't on some awful, mind altering "drug".
Sheesh, what BS.

He still struggled after getting tackled. Guy trying to control his legs was struggling. Same with at his arms. You or I would have gone limp with pain the way his joints were being locked. Even a trained martial artist would have had trouble with this puppy. Personally, I would have gone for the golden oldie "shime-waza" and it would have been over in one minute or less.

That's what I was thinking as well. It was a good thing for that first Papa Bear (and I agree with what he did - he was an off duty police officer and he felt that the guy might be a) on drugs and b) capable of posing a threat) that he had so much back up so quickly.

That guy was jacked ... and I find it hard to believe that only alcohol was involved.

Seems like he was dusted or had a psychotic break.  Whatever the case, there are some people who are even oblivious to tasers in an agitated state.  Better this bad actor getting the bumps and bruises than someone else.

I doubt a trained martial artist would have had trouble, especially one who is well versed in pressure points, and breaks.

So... drunk (or worse) young, dazed guy walks on field, belt not looped, pants half down, shirtless, throws bottle, acts stupid (Kind of football in a nutshell......) Yet he gets tackled by 7 men who appear to try to break bones (watch lower leg area after pin) when he almost looked like he was about to walk off the field. He didn't attack anybody, not sure they needed to go as far as they did taking him down.

Almost looked like a gang of thugs (7 of them) attacking 1 un-armed, impaired victim..... And later, half the guys on that field in uniform will be doing similar things at parties in college. Bunch of older guys being big and tough (in their minds)........ sheesh

I guess no one had a cell phone to call the cops to take care of it properly, probably within blocks of the field. Wouldn't shock me if later some of those men who were involved got brought up on charges themselves. I hope for their sake he wasn't seriously injured.

Of course as an armchair observer, you could of handled the situation soo much better. Were you there? Did you have a kid on the field or in the stands? You think sitting back and calling 911 is the simple solution - and yet in his drunken state, may have lead to him hurting an innocent bystander ... Did you read the local newspaper there in which those at the game stated they were glad he was subdued ... For fear he was going to hurt someone?

Maybe they should have given him a hug, a pat on the head and told him to sit in the corner for a timeout.

And a "participation" medal .... Oh and dont forget the note or "contract" for his mommy to sign, and the little guy to sign, that he will try to improve his actions in the future, or else spend his lunch recess in the responsibility room for 2 days.

I think their concern was public safety. I'm really tired of people using homosexuality as an insult when they purport to support gay rights and equality. I really don't see how it is any better.
