This will make absolutely no difference in the eyes of the greedy, they will hurriedly try to explain it away and continue their onslaught as though nothing serious happened.  When will these Oil companies realize their profits are not worth the damage they are doing to the planet?

This is a lame and tiresome (and stupid) mantra that you should consider changing.

The damage was done to a boat. When will you realize that?

Say what????? A lunatic walks into a school and shoots 20 babies and six adults. But he did nothing. Neither was anything perpetrated by gun salesmen or by poor mental health services. It was only the gun that was to blame. So, by definition, a ship that carries oil, then runs aground and possibly spills its fuel and the oil has no relationship to environmental damage. Orwell would be impressed.

BTW, I hope you support those Texas land owners standing in front of the Trans Canada bulldozers.

Oil "spills" happen all the time. Very few are much 'covered' by the corporate media. Only the biggest even see the national and international news. Does anyone remember the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico? That crude oil is still in the Gulf, and the damage to the region's ecology and communities and economy is still happening. But the coverage of petroleum, coal and natural gas extraction disasters in the media and political discourse has been very throughly "cleaned up" as if the record Gulf pollution never happened. This current oil extraction equipment failure too, shall be scrubbed from the brains of human beings long before the next millions of barrels of crude oil have polluted yet another massive area of the land, sea and shore.

You all want fuel for your cars, homes and products that require transportation. Yet you attack the companies that provide it.

Shall we do away with oil completely, switch to renewable energy? The cost would only triple your energy bills.

The cost of destroying our water and land are much higher than what you will ever pay at the pump. they should not be waived accountability and compliance with safety to save any of us a few cents at the pump. If you could drink oil you might have an argument.

I see very little destruction and the air/water and land are much cleaner than they were in my childhood in the 60's.

Energy consumption has been dropping steadily for the last 20 years in the USA thanks to increased efficiencies (internet and products like the Ipad that replace 20-50 devices) and new technologies.

Why be so pessimistic all the time?

These companies have NO business being in any areas so close to pristine wildlife refuges in the first place.

They have no way to contain oil spills and the methodology hasn't changed in 50 years.

Wake up Sec. Salazar. We need you to permanently evict these dirty drillers.

Of what you ask?
Four more years of great Democratic leadership on our president’s part.
Four more years with this wonderful family in our White House, a “Classic American Family” that is respected around the world.
Four more years to remind the Republican Party that you can’t buy the presidency, or get it with voter suppression or going after women.
Four more years of watching the Republican Party tear it’s self apart as it blindly goes over the political cliff.
Four more years to continue cleaning up the previous administrations mess.
The Republican Party would have had a better chance by having Pee Wee Herman as your nominee.
Four more years…
