Flushing B.S. from Coast to Coast

Like it or not, the Evangelical wing is a powerful voting bloc, and have the same right rights as any other group. In the highly divisive atmosphere that is American politics, it is more important than ever to understand that our similarities are much greater than our differences.

This may only be accomplished by extending the hand of friendship and respect.

B.S. These people have worked against Obama for most of his presidency, and do not uphold his principles. Obama should be appeasing those of us who voted for him with our fingers on our noses, not those who have taken him to court for not having been born in the U.S.

It's true. Louie Giglio and Obama have worked together on the issue of human trafficking, and have found a way to be friendly despite their differing viewpoints. This determination to beat down anyone who may disagree with you, even if it was 20 years ago, is really helping our country.

The Saddleback Church lied to us about the ticketing scandal that gave nearly all of the tickets to the forum on the Presidency. At the end of this posting, there is a link to an Orange Country Register article on it.

I wrote an email requesting information on how to get tickets on 9/30/2008:

Pastor Rick,

Please explain the basic process for allocating tickets for the Presidential Debate on August 16th. Thank you.

Best regards,
[name redacted]

----------------------------
This is the reply I received from John Mogush, assistant to Pastor Rick:

Hi [name redacted],

There has been no decision on ticket price or distribution. When a final decision has been made, it will be posted on www.saddlebackcivilforum.com

All God's Best,

We all know now that he was lying through his teeth. Nearly all the 5,000 tickets were GIVEN to members of the Saddleback Church and a few were sold to friends of the church. There never was anything posted on the website enabling others to attend. They just didn't want the bad press until after the event was over.

Another backwards Georgia grifter preacher energizing his flock on the demonization of gay people. The south has been this way for over 200 years, Cindy Jacobs, Jan and Paul Crouch, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, Tony Perkins, Bryan Fischer, the list is endless. All of their shows end with "send money Now" They should all be sued for fraud. Biggest con game going. "Give to me and Jesus will bless you". How absolutely pathetic.

What happened to seperation of church and state?

As long as there are stupid people (The US is FULL of the stupid) they will buy holy water, prayer rags and other stupid "holy bling" from these charlatans.

And, thus, we step, once again, into the prom queen contest that is politics. It just reminds me that I respect the office, if not the man, and I don't watch the inauguration to avoid things like this.

Please don't construe this to mean that I dislike President Obama. He's just making some poor choices, here.

I don't think it is attack to say, (saying they will be prevented from "entering the Kingdom of God' and also that the "only way out of a homosexual lifestyle... is
through the healing power of Jesus.' ) these guys are called preachers, and that's what they do, PREACH, the words from the New Testement, so don't come up wihall your bs about shell fish and all kinds of other crap, they are merely preaching what is writtien, You know the bible speaks of a story where Jesus came across a crowd ready to sone a women for something ,I don't recal what , but he said who ever is with out sin cast the first stone, so I don't believe they are casting any stones IMHO, I wont debate or respond , just one old man's opinion.

That's the point: They don't preach what is written about footballs and mixing fibers and shellfish. They conveniently created a change in the bible giving themselves an out from all that.

But they also don't similarly rail against and persecute those who violate the headlining, and therefore most important, ten commandments, including those who covet, take the lord's name in vain, disrespect their parents.

It's a psychologically based, personal bigotry stemming from sexism, not anything about the bible. Or they'd behave the same way regarding all "unrepentant sinners." They do not.

"I don't think it is attack to say, . . ."

But since it is an attack on GLBTQ people, your entire premise is rendered pointless.

"they are merely preaching what is writtien, "

No, they are not. They are preach what they derive from what is written, which is quite a different thing.

Why is someone saying a prayer even needed at this event? I always thought that the inauguration was about swearing to uphold the Constitution. That is what the oath should be sworn on.

I'll go you one further. Why, for Pete's sake, do we need taxpayer-funded legislative chaplains roaming the halls of Congress? To me, a non-believer, it's as bizarre as electing wizards or druids to minister to the "spiritual" needs of that gang of frauds.
05:53 PM on 01/09/2013
I totally agree with all of these statements. The President should pledge his oath with his hand on a copy of the Constitution, not a Bible. And there should be no prayer at all. Perhaps just a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, by the entire audience, with the words "under god" deleted. those words were merely added during the 1950s after all.
06:33 PM on 01/09/2013
we need taxpayer-funded legislative chaplains to remind us that people like you exist.
