Don't know why, but I'm finding this story hard to believe. Wonder if the mother had something to do with it. I know it sounds awful, but lots of parents do lots of awful things to their children for a lot less than a lawsuit. I could also be dead wrong, which I hope I am.

just odd she noticed it at home and not when they made the sub, since they make it right in front of your eyes. And wearing thin latex gloves, one would think the person handling the ingredients might notice something poking their hand. Seems like this young mommy is looking for a pay day at baby's expense. I don't know any 3 year olds really capable of eating those subs either, or that would like them. Seems suspicious at the least.

The employees use scoops to transfer the sandwich mixture from the stainless steel containers to the bread. It's easily imagined that a piece (or small pieces) of glass would not be noticed. Apparently you never eaten at a Subway or you would have been aware of that fact.

lol what the heck fancy subway do you go to? I've been to at least 30 subways in states from GA to IL and beyond and have never seen this done.

breakgenre, I said the same thing as I read the article. Let's hope that the glass (if she did swallow any glass) stay's/goes in the middle of her stool on the way out, other wise her colin will get all cut up.

Yeah, I agree, plastic I could somehow see but glass not so much. Very little that would come into contact with the food source made of glass. I of course don't know this Mom or child but things just don't add up. Hope it was worth it.

I believe their stuff is prepacked before they put it on display in the deli area. It could've come from a bulb or something at the distribution place.

If their sandwich mixtures are not made onsite, it must have originated at the source.

I would be very interested to see where the source of this glass was.

As someone who spent a good portion of his career in the restaurant industry, I can tell you that most major chains take steps to avoid this sort of thing.

A few examples... produce packed in boxes that use glue instead of staples; bread and bun packaging that uses heat sealing instead of twist ties; condiments that are delivered in plastic bags instead of glass containers.

I don't know the woman in question, so I have no reason to doubt her story, but I'm having a hard time thinking of anything inside of a subway store that's made of glass. Paper, lot's of plastic, but very little metal, and almost no glass.

If this did actually happen, I have a feeling that we will discover that the problem was upstream, with the supplier or the original producer, instead of something in the store.

It probably chipped off the display that wraps around the area between customer and clerk. I see it as being highly probable.

There was more than ONE piece of glass. There were several in the sandwich.

I totally agree with that last statement.

Serious Reply: It's got to be terrifying for that mother and child for this to have happened. Though, I'm pretty sure feeding your three year-old Subway isn't the best of ideas.

Snarky Reply: Did the glass make the length 12 inches?

Subway is healthy for the most part. What other fast food joint can you get fresh vegetables at? That's right, none.

Given all the meals that are prepared out of the home, and all the things that COULD go wrong in that chain, I'm not shocked this happens sometimes. It happens in our own kitchens, too.

Yeah, that would have been bad, but come on now.

There is no greater deed a parent can do than feeding a child glass to get the money for a vacation at Disneyland.

I hate to say it, but that was the first thought to come to my mind too. I really hope not though.

That's why I'm going to train my child to eat glass and go around the country pulling this on people. I'll make millions!
