Louisiana's health secretary, Bruce D. Greenstein, is concerned that the Medicaid expansion could replace private insurance for many low-wage workers in his state, dragging down quality throughout the health care system because the program pays doctors and hospitals far less than private insurance.

This guy is not wanting to admit that the low-wage workers who are now paying for  Read More...

The right wing kills people but the gutless media won't tell it like it is by pointing out what the GOP policies do to them on a number of different levels. If an ordinary person does something that eventually ends up in the death of another human being they are guilty of criminal negligence causing death and sentenced to prison but not the GOP.

Just more proof of how little those on the right care about the middle and lower income people. They only care about their wealthy donor friends.

You're correct there...Tim Geithner, he's one of the worse on the right, for taking care of his buddies. The Treasurer at that!

I know we're talking medicaid here, but I have a question on the "Obama Care" in general. I own a small concrete company with 3 full time employees. Is the President's package only for individuals, or is there a program where I can buy into coverage that would give my employees health coverage? These men have all worked for me for over 5 years, one has been with me for over 10. Medical coverage has always been out of my reach financially. Just curious.

There will be exchanges that you can buy into. Your company's employees will be included with other companies' employees to give you a better group rate.

There is no doubt that the Republicans will always put Party Politics and what they falsely believe to be in their own selfish interests, above what is sane sensible and needed by the vast majority of the people. The GOP have signed their own death warrant so many times, and they just don't understand why they will never win in a National election again, unless and until they change their ways.

Just pay for it and stifle youself. The lizard is in charge. Did you see the control he had when the fly landed on his face last week? Not the first time he had to control his huge tongue. One of these times he's going to slip , and his tongue is going to shoot out and catch that fly. Then we will all know. Of course his media will lay cover. But can you really ignore what you see? Even if you only see it once/ I mean a two foot long tungue shooting out to catch a fly only needs to be seen once. That will be his downfall.

Everyone should have the right to see a doctor and and doctors should be compensated for everyone they see. I heard a young woman speak the other day who was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer after 3 years of going to the ER to "see a doctor" and being sent home with diagnoses of a virus or what not. During the GOP debates people in the audience yelled out "Let them die!" when the question of the uninsured was raised. Our country is stronger when we care for the least of our countrymen. When we care for everyone equally. Let everyone who cannot afford healthcare have Medicaid, the VA or the same healthcare politicians have. I have private insurance, but I also have a heart.
02:50 AM on 01/29/2013
Healthcare is not a luxury. It is a right! Obama has tried to do the right thing. The Supremes ultimately failed him. Every state should be required to provide heath care coverage to those who cannot afford private insurance. We are WAY behind most of europe on this one.
03:44 AM on 01/29/2013
We are beyond getting control of it.
The money making tentacles are too far entrenched.
The system must go bust and then start with new rules.

07:48 AM on 01/29/2013
So when we catch up with Europe...will we be setting our country on fire, too? Healthcare is not a right or a luxury. It's a priviledge. If it was a right, there would be a lot of cases in front of Diana Ross.

How interesting, Republicans would much rather be bashings near and thereabouts with a war or two rather the provide healthcare for their citizens. All things considered, the venerable Allen Grayson (D-Fla.) said it eloquently, "Republicans want you to die quickly." Most notably, wars have the propensity to hasten the Republican goal so more Americans can "die quickly" to reduce the need for that pesky health care.

And, like they do everything else, they can't even wage war "well". They created tens of thousands of vets with disabilities that will cost $$$$$$$$$$$$ for years to come. They forgot that medical treatment has improved so much, those troops no longer just DIE in the fields and swamps or deserts. AND do they want to pay for the wreckage left behind by their mistakes???? No, they just sit and chant "Bengazi" as if it is the magic cure for their war on women, minorities, Latinos, gays, etc.
Guys, your efforts on immigration are too little, too late. Latinos will see it for what it is....

You are more right than you could possibly know. I visited the VA hospital in Salem Virginia. Although it is the largest VA complex in the U.S., they are building more facilities for the veterans, as it is really needed. What is shocking is he number of young men and women who are physically and/or mentally disabled. Yet Republicans say stop blaming Bush. When in fact these veterans will need care for the rest of their lives. Simply put, all of your comments are spot on.

As always, Republicans have to be dragged kicking and screaming into any meaningful or useful change. This genetic flaw derives from our cavemen ancestors...modern Republicans being descended from those cave dwellers who were terrified to ever step outside of the cave. Simply put, they are incapable of change, and always will be..their irrational fear forever holding America back and dragging us down.
