Thenk how much we could save on the cost of government if we paid our legislators minimum wage? Maybe that's what we should be doing, instead of  givng them high salaries and lots of perks. And I understand the increase in minimum wage would affect small businesses but  there's something more to be considered. If you are an employer, why should you expect an employee to work for you full time,  Read More...

CEO pay should be set as a multiple of the lowest paid employee. No raise for the lowest should mean no raise for the boss.

Totally agree....right now the wealthiest make nearly 450x times the lowest paid employee...it used to be something like 80x. I think at this point most of us would be happy if it was at about 100x. They would still be rich, but the gap wouldn't be so awful. Having no middle class only pushes us closer to third world status.

Interesting that 4,000 people have put their two cents worth in about someone who won't raise wages a quarter?

Minimum wage laws do two things and two things only. Increase revenue to government and increases prices for consumers. Abolish minimum wages.

Don't be so sure. The pendulum swings...dems have to continue to get out and vote, and it would be nice to get some real liberals in congress.

I am puzzled by this proposed measured roll-out from a man that cannot seem to deny his own self any immediate gratification whatsoever.

Why so serious?

If what you are capable of doing is working in a fast food restaurant, Walmart, sweeping floors, etc., then you KNOW what type of salary to expect and that you can't afford to support a family on that salary. You will probably need to have roommates to make ends meet or set higher goals for yourself.

Your compassion is astounding, and typical of a bagger. We expect nothing less.

How much would you pay a person who is only capable of sweeping floors?

Seriously, be constructive.

This is nothing new from CC. Anything to do with helping the working men and woman of NJ he's against it.
He lost me, when after passing in both houses, he vetoed a bill that would have eliminated the state tax on the pension of retirees, while at the same time keeping the lower rate tax on millionaires.
Maybe because I'm a transplant to NJ that I don't understand how he holds a 73 per cent approval rating. Could be all that cursing/arguing with hecklers on the boardwalk is near and dear to the natives.
04:59 PM on 01/29/2013
How were his approval ratings before the hurricane? I hardly think 'The Boss' who he is so enamored with will think much of this.

Uhh, not giving people enough money to spend and put back into the economy jeopardizes the recovery we all seek. Really Christie???!!! Who's buying that? I hope New Jersey wakes up and elects a Dem for governor.

A conniving republican will always be a conniving republican. Like a snakes, no matter how many times it sheds it skin will always be a snake and bite its care taker.

Nothing like a good ole Republican to keep a working man/ woman down, while the price of everything else continues to rise, and at a greater rate than existing wages can afford.
02:17 AM on 01/30/2013
Hey, it's not Christie printing money like it's going out of style. Look at your friend Bernake if you want to get mad at prices raising like crazy.

Well if rich people stopped hoarding money while Mexicans keep sending it to Mexico every week, the government wouldn't need to print any more.

I've always been told it takes money to make money, and it doesn't grow on trees.

Who is this Bernake? Never heard that name. Did you mean Bernie Madoff? Bernie Mac?
