The inevitable use of these drones will be against US citizens in the US.  At the inception of this modern drone program back in the early 90s, there were tons of assurances that they would never be armed.  But by the end of the decade, squadrons of F-16 fighter jets were being replaced by armed Predators.  By the end of the next decade, Congress approved Predator's use in the US for  Read More...

As The Who sang: "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." The two-party system is in bed with the corporate oligarchy, and especially the military-surveillance-war machinery cabal. Until we elect a Green candidate, or Bernie Sanders, as president, and get rid of legislators who are bribed off by the war/drone/prison/surveillance complex, we will see continuing erosion of civil liberties, and endless wars.

The O administration says that drone strikes are used to kill "terrorists."  The DHS says that potential terrorists include, among others, people who are part of OWS, Second Amendment advocates, climate change deniers, pro-life protesters, doomsday preppers, etc.

The US drone program's primary mission is to create more terrorists than we kill, hence assuring the continuation the "Long War."

Drones are a perpetual recruitment tool for terrorists.

Rather than assassinate Saddam Hussein because it was against the law, the Iraq war is estimated to have caused the death of up to 650,000 Iraqis, over 4000 American troops killed, more than 30,000 injured, and cost a trillion dollars. Personally I think the drones are much more efficient in taking out one person. ---and a heck of a lot less death and destruction.

As long as you admit that America is targeting and killing outside of this country it's a start.

Amazing to see that efficiency and saving money is what Liberals and Progressives are really about when it comes to War.

No political bias here just simple math.  Kill, maim, or wound 650,000 people OR kill one high value terrorist leader like Osama Bin Laden?  Naturally, the "true conservative" would spend a trillion dollars on people who hate us and then say the self-sustaining social security system is causing us to go bankrupt.

"The administration claims that these are only used for high value targets who are an imminent threat. We dont know if that's true because there's no oversight, but we do know is that they've killed thousands and thousands of people," Grim said. "Now what kind of an organization has thousand and thousands and thousands of senior level people-- in fact, research into it says only about 2 percent of the people that were killed were senior level members of al-Qaeda, and more than a thousand civilians have died as a result of this."

Very true.

I'll give you a few reasons republicans don't like drones. Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumann, Boeing. These people stand to lose money because drones put a little sting on their profits going forward.

Can you give me some reasons why Democrats didn't like drones during Bush's term?
Seems to me that now there are plenty of people making excuses for the use of drones, who were very much against this sort of action under the last president.

Big difference is that under Bush he started a ground war that killed thousands of US troops . Obama is using drones to prevent losing people.

Don't give me this garbage about killing an american citizen who just happened to plan and carry out killing of other american citizens. He was a dritbag and i could care less if he was a citizen. He needed to get killed and these republicans have to stop whining like little school girls.

I wasn't even aware that John McLaughlin was still alive. He's looking really old. The show always features great debates. Eleanor Clift is still as irritating as ever. Some things never change.
