Thank you MJ. You set the bar and it's never been raised. You were the best.

MJ was a legend in his time and has been passed by today's talent. The league he played in had 10% of the overall talent of today. Today's game is faster, more athletic and generally tougher. Sorry MJ, you are now a memory.

So cool that this talented newer kid on the block had the gratitude to give Vince Carter respect. So many of the newer players act like others didn't blaze a path for them. Many act like talent started when they put on the uniform they now wear. Nothing wrong with being confident about your abilities, but still be respectful of others who have gone before you.

The Slam Dunk contest was awsome last night! I stayed up and watched it and it was a true showing of the real talent often not seen enough in Basketball. It was good to see players from all different teams come together and clap for each other. They raised alot of money also.

Its always clown like u who cannot dunk talking trash about someone who can..u are entitled to talk trash about guys with talent, and we are entitled to question u about what u can do sparky. You sound foolish for putting somekne down for winning a contest u could not even get into. You would fail miserably!

Lol, jumping has always been a talent. It's an olympic-skill in almost every sport that doesn't involve proning oneself or a weapon.

The basket should be raised to at least 12 feet. The game was never formulated with the idea of players being able to dunk it--that'd be like a tennis player with arms so long he could reach the net from the baseline or someone so huge and powerful in baseball he could hit a home run by bunting.

Nicely done young man. Getting back to a bit more "old school". Less foolish fluff and more straight, impressive, athletic and powerful dunking. Clean and sweet. A well deserved win.

Already forget the guys name! It is Terence Smith! No? Ross Perot? Betsy Ross?
08:28 AM on 02/17/2013
Write the winners name and all the other finalists names down. Two years from now they won't be in the NBA; you will have a souvenir of the Jeremy Ross 'era'.

Ross was impressive, but in general, this was the most embarrassing night for the increasingly dubious slam dunk contest in years. "Flight" was a "Fright" -- it was like watching a drunk try to cross a highway against traffic.

"Jumping high", " Running fast", "Hitting a baseball a great distance"; "Doing flips--or whatever--on a balance beam (gymnastics)", etc., are all signs of "athletic prowess".

None of these, in and of themselves, can be considered "worthwhile".

So, basically, your comment mocking "jumping high" obviously means you're not impressed with any show of althetic ability--extreme fitness, quick reaction time, great hand-eye coordination---all working together--- in any area?

My guess is you hated gym class in high school,.....huh?

Always picked last for any sport when they were choosing teams....?

arx, I wasn't even picked last in gym class, my teachers had to assign me to teams but I had and still have a great admiration of everything you listed!! In high school my teacher "put" me on a team and when play started because I was so little EVERYONE ran over me and didn't know it. The teacher dragged me off to the bench and told me to just stay there--I became the unofficial cheerleader of all of the teams so to speak 'cause I still enjoyed watching. Some people are just jealout of others ability whereas I enjoy others ability to do what I could not. Some need to just watch cartoons if they have no appreciation of others..
