Just woke up, still blurry, haven't had mine yet, did they mention Indonesia or Ethiopia? They're my favorites anyway. Roasted by Stumptown. Yummm Seriously, this is sad news for the farmers and everyone else down the line.

I enjoy the occasional cup of tea but it will never replace coffee. At that point I would probably find an energy drink substitute or just quit drinking caffeine in general.

Looks like we are in for a rust-belt when we next frequent Starbucks.

In Ireland they’ve been tossing back O’Rion’s Belts at local Pubs for years

I like how all the disease risk reduction due to coffee are all "this could..." never "this will."
06:21 PM on 03/25/2013
How could coffee reduce your disease risk if it can not even reduce it's own risk of contracting the rust disease :-)

The danger of monoculture. The same applies to humans and is why globalization is a disaster.

If coffee stocks disappear, I strongly urge all of you to stay far far far away from me.

people read this and feel all coffee is lost, it is not. There is a huge amount of coffee grown around the world. Plus charbucks is not going to solve an issue that has been at the forefront of coffee growers for years.

their buying a farm will not solve coffee rust...

Yea well it's also a curse in Liberal la la land. You can alter the genetics of that coffee bean to make it resistant to rust. At that point it would be considered a GMO crop. Go into a liberal coffee shop and ask the patrons what they think of GMO coffee beans. Actually, better not, you might get a cup of coffee thrown in your face for even suggesting such evil...

Do me a favor.  Go into a liberal coffee shop and ask them what they think of "GMO's."  If you make it out of there alive, come back and report on your findings.
