It has to be decided on a federal level for two reasons.

First, it is necessary because many of the privileges of marriage are on the federal level. It would be difficult for anyone to see the logic of a married couple in New York having certain rights under federal law, but that same couple in Texas would not have the same federal rights, because Texas doesn't allow them to create the marriage  Read More...

thinks the issue of same-sex marriage should be handled at the state level? Really? How about 2 People........War Criminals Son
08:05 PM on 03/26/2013
I agree with Jeb. We should get ride of ALL civil rights legislation and let everything get handled at the state level. We will let the STATES decide if they want to discriminate against women. We will let the STATES decide if they want to discriminate against blacks, hispanics, etc. We should let the STATES decide if they want to discriminate against Jews or Baptists. I think Jeb is on to something here. (I hope everyone knows this is sarcasm?).

For all those people who claim marriage is"sacred", I have an idea - make divorce ILLEGAL.
Pass legislation that states that once you are married you can ONLY get re-married if your partner dies. That would proof to me you think marriage is sacred and it is not just a discriminatory issue. Think anyone will make divorce illegal?

I hear that but I think marriage should be between man and woman but if you want to marry anything else no man country or state should make laws against it. Just no benefits. Oh I forgot the benefits are what they want.

What a jaded view. Why should they be denied the same benefits others are entitled to?

When a federal politician says this on huge issues it usually means they're cowards and shouldn't be a leader. Take a stance or get out of office and out of the way.

Jeb Bush is becoming a contortionist trying to please both sides. Sorry,it doesn't fly. If a gay couple moves to Texas, suddenly they aren't legally married? Romney already tried playing both sides of every issue. Whatever happened to that guy?

Listen, I don't like Republicans either, but I won't stoop to using that kind of language about them.

I thought Jeb was supposed to be the smart one. Since he has put himself back into the public with his book and comments. I'm thinking, NOT so smart.

I am a registered democrat and I live in Florida and was here when he was Governor, he was a moderate Republican who really cared about Floridians and education for kids. But since he is rumored to run in 2016, he has changed his positions in immigration and now gay marriage because he is appealing to the hard hard right base. He knows that he has to go through a "severely conservative" primary. I really hope Rand Paul gets to win the primary for 2016. Rand Paul vs Hillary Clinton I predict landslide for Clinton.

We probably wouldn't have had a civil war if we had, And slavery would still be over today. And the country better off !

What's a few generations more of slavery, especially if it didn't affect YOUR life.

How empathetic of you.

I think it should be done on a national level. One rule for everyone, that way people wouldn't have to keep up with where they are recognized, or not.
