Tax the rich; avoid war; create justice.

During his imprisonment I lived in Portland and became a member of Quaker facilitated Portlanders organized for Southern African Freedom, with our biggest accomplishment being a protest of by a small group that closed an area port for one day, supposedly costing the shipping companies visiting S. Africa despite an embargo $1 million. I often slept in my Nelson Mandela tee shirt and wished that a community of love could move him to warmth, health and peace with justice from the hate-filled tomb where he was held after my own government participated in his imprisonment. He remains one of my few s/heros and I wish him continued embrace by all who love him.

We will pray for Mandela's recovery. He has suffered so very much. He is, afterall, just human, so we must realize that his life on earth is finite, although with his spirit and love for his people and humanity, he may indeed live forever as he does in our hearts today. God Bless you, Mandela.

Absolutely, auntbush! And to have reached the age of 94 after his years of suffering in prison is nothing short of a miracle. It would be magnificent if he could celebrate his 100th birthday!

Is this article really implying that Mandela is somehow being killed by "white racists" because of this illness? The man is human so far as I know & is 94 years old! If anything Mandela has outlived his captors by now! Is 94 premature? (Before you answer South Africa has a lower life expectancy rate than Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, or Nigeria @ 52.1 years) I notice the article mentions this twice. "Mandela contracted tuberculosis during his 27-year imprisonment for fighting white racist rule in South Africa. He has repeatedly had lung problems." AND "Under South Africa's white-minority apartheid regime, Mandela served 27 years in prison, where he contracted tuberculosis, before being released in 1990." So redundant. Check your work HuffPost! Best regards to Mr. Mandela on a speedy recovery.

They are not implying that. You are reading more into it than they said.

Mandela was targeted unfairly, falsly imprisoned and endured much suffering. For that I feel respect and empathy for him. However I do not believe in his politics of communism at all. I hope he recovers and continues to experience happiness in his golden years.
just passing thru and trying to make it right
