Baucus is one of the few Democrats who did everything he could to screw up single-payer healthcare, so why should we expect him to care about the lives of the people now?

America will never have single payer. You know why? Us gun owners will never consent to universal enslavement into a single payer model.

Max Baucus does not work for the People of America, and there aren't enough corporate headquarters in Montana to imagine that he works for many there either. Just another manifestation of Harry Reid's overall uselessness as a leader for what the Democrats claim they are interested in doing.

Senator Baucus works for the people of Montana. If they did not think he was representing them, he would be out on his can. Obviously a majority of the voters think he is doing a decent job. You may not like him but unless you live in Montana, I doubt he gives a rat's behind what you think of him.

The few People of Montana, should not have their representative empowered to sell out the interests of a vastly larger People of America. If the Democrats had any policy commitment reason to exist any longer, it wouldn't happen.

Bottom line: Messina wants to do what's right. Baucus wants to do what's politically expedient regardless of the body count.

Baucus will do what the majority of the voters in Montana want him to do, not what some leftist piece of garbage from NY wants him to do.

There is nothing like a good insult from a Cultist to solidify our position.  You make me absolutely convinced that I, and the millions like me, are undeniably correct.

Hey, that's a great idea. But get ready for GOP control of the Senate. What a lot of you Dems forget is the way the party gained a majority in 2006 was by expanding the tent to get more conservative leaning democratic candidates to run in more conservative states. Candidates that strongly support gun owner's rights. If you think Schumer or Pelosi could get elected dog catcher in Montana and other Heartland states, you need to open your eyes and get out beyond the coasts.

If anyone actually believed that to be true, then people wouldnt be accusing Democrats of of not supporting gun control due to only caring about their reelection. Just look at the CBS poll from a few days ago, support for overall stronger gun control has dropped to pre-Sandy Hook levels.
Odds are those Senators that have high NRA ratings have them because it is what their constituents want. Bottom line is that the way Senate is designed has nothing to do with population, which is why all states have 2 senators regardless of population. To the senator in Montana, it doesnt matter if 10 million Democrats from New York want stronger gun control, his only concern is what the 700,000 people in Montana want. Odds are they are not going to vote against him for having a high NRA rating. As a matter fact, he can probably use that for his campaign to say he puts his people's believes above the party platform.

You just watch the People will have the last say in the end. There are more states then Montana so never say never. Look what happen to Mitt and how sure he was!  This is not going to go away and as I said the People will have their say come 2014 and 2016!

You are totally spot on. People forget Tip O'Neill's quote that all politics is local. It is not what liberals in NY or CA want that matter to the pro-gun democratic senators, it is what the folks in their own states want. The live there. The go to town meetings. They know what mail their constituents sent to them on this topic. They give this far more weight than a poll from "America's Nanny".

"Max has said we need to start (gun control) by better enforcing the laws that are already on the books before passing new laws."

Which laws? The ones watered-down by the gun industry and the NRA?
02:26 PM on 03/28/2013
Those are the exact ones that they're talking about.
