Wealth is youthful idealism into old age.
02:25 AM on 03/31/2013
Americans know of SEAL Team 6, because of its extraordinary success in getting Bin Laden. Millions of Americans, like, Brett Shaddle, have Served with honor and courage our Country. For many, like Brett, the price, was their lives. Milliions of Veterans, each day and night, are painfully reminded of decades of Service by physical pain that results from injuries/degenerative arthritic diseases/other Service-connected/accelerated medical conditions. Quietly, with dignity, they vainly try to stretch their meager pensions to cover ever-increasing copays for ever-decreasing, available, health care. Frequently, they gather to bid farewell to one of their comrades, knowing too well, that their life-expectancy is a full decade less than their fellow citizens. Disappointed and confused, they watch a new generation of politicians, who have never served in the Armed Forces, demand more "sacrifices" of them. They had been promised that their Country would take care of them for the great sacrifices they already made. Confused, they watch politicians bail out banks with their tax dollars, while developing a "Chained CPI" and health care proposals to reduce their pensions/medical benefits, that our future economy remain "competitive". Politicians need to know that Americans are too keenly aware of their sacrifices, like Brett's and our Wounded Warriors, and they are not going to STAND FOR IT! America must honor its promise to our veterans, lest their sacrifice's, like Brett's death, be in vain. Brett's family, and all veteran families, deserve, at the very least, that/your support!

Yes its an awful treatment - On another note - My buddy and I were talking about how we were volunteer Firefighter for 20 yrs - We noted if we had joined the Military reserves we would have at least gotsome kind of pension. But thats life and sacrfice and mostly good memories. I do what I can to help the USO, because of their work.

Pete, thank your for your comment and service to the community.  You guys are in combat every time there is a fire, and you are in readiness in-between.  It is time some of us spoke up on the military.  They need not have to worry that their families will be out in the street when they go to combat.

What a tragedy, Those SEALS are supermen in my book. So sad to lose another one.

My heart goes out to all the family, friends and fellow soldiers of Brett Shadle. May you find peace in the knowledge he achieved his life-long dream and know he is now in sailing in smooth waters - never to be in danger again. My admiration and thanks for his service to all of us.

Hmmm! Another government cover up?
12:50 AM on 03/31/2013
I do believe the government is taking out all the SEALS that were involved with the Osama raid.

May God Bless him & his family. They sacrificed so much so he could serve us so nobly. Let us never, ever forget all that the Military and their familys do for us so unselfishly. May God also watch over the wounded Seal. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for them.

First, as noted by almost everyone familiar with military training, RIP, Brett. You are my hero, in and out of combat. Second, a grim reminder of how dangerous military training is, and, how important the effort to prevent training accidents must be for every commander involved in conducting military training. Lastly, the sad reminder, that no matter how extraordinary the preventive effort is in running high-risk military training, costly accidents will happen because it is the nature of the beast; you just try like heck to minimize them.

My condolences to Mr. Shadle's family, friends and co-workers. Also I wish a speedy recovery to his coworker involved in the accident.

So sorry about the SEAL. I hope his family gets all the help necessary, because they certainly deserve it. God bless all SEALs -- especially Team 6.

It is. The Navy saying is" I wonder who's turn it is in the barrel tonight?"
