I've been saying it for a few years now, and guessing Citizens United may be why: GOVERNMENT IS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE ANYMORE. Overturn it and return the government to the people.

Well for starters they signed the Monsanto Protection act.  In the state where I live, there was a bill people have fought, and it did not pass.  Why?  Because there was another bill they slipped it in.  Also, why so much focus on illegal people and helping them out rather than our own first?  I get more keen to the corruption the more time goes on....but I think everyone is.  Our medical system is another bunch of BS, along with Big Pharma.

So in citizens United, that gave businesses personhood, just what part of the body separate from the individuals of the business does that business think and make its own decisions of what it supports? If that decision is rendered from the brain of the CEO or the BOARD then it is not operating as a separate individual. When a business uses its resources to push an ideology of the CEO or BOARD then it is not the ideology of the business but of the CEO or BOARD and therefore not separate.

CU did not give businesses personhood.

Corporate personhood is never mentioned in the decision.

There's a new set of kids in town....
WE have OTHER views....

• The commitment to a constitutional amendment to allow the PEOPLE, through the mechanism of voting, to override any Supreme Court ruling with a 2/3 of the States being in agreement against said ruling. Thereby completing the system of checks and balances designed by the Founding Fathers by allowing the empowerment of the greater majority to remove the Supreme Courts ability to legislate from behind the bench.

2/3 of state legislatures to propose (it could be proposed through congress as well... FAT CHANCE).... followed by 3/4 of State legislatures to ratify. It will take a while, but it would be political suicide to vote against it.

A person has 1 body, 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head and a single rectum
A Corporation has an almost uncountable number of rectums.. this by nature proves it's not a person.

The only way this is going to change is to change the corrupt supreme court minions who supported it!

Apparently, there aren't enough people hurting to be out in the streets protesting! But it's coming! Just wait until that next big bank failure that Obama was too neutered by corporations to do anything about!

Citizens United has been nothing but a detriment to democracy in this country. Big corporations should not have the power they do over our government. OUR government. The people.

The day I see a corporation go pee is the day I agree with Citizens United. Until then, corporations, logically and rationally, lack a few things needed to be human (guilt being a big one, morals, ethics, personality). On top of that, a corporation is the voice of it's people who already get their say.

If corporations are people, why can't they vote as a person? If they can't vote, why can they influence the vote so much.

Basically, I cannot come up with any logical or rational argument to say that a corporation is in any way the same as a person (and by extension it makes absolutely no sense to me that they get the same rights).

Another question: If the corporation has to go pee, does it use the men's or women's washroom?

Citizens United never once says that corporations are people. That's a gigantic myth. It is never mentioned.

Have you read it?

FYI:

"There are currently two proposed amendments in Congress that would reverse the decision. One, proposed by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), would allow the federal government to impose “reasonable content-neutral limitations” on independent political contributions and spending. The second more ambitious amendment, proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL), would completely bar for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations and unions from spending money in federal elections.

West Virginia, Colorado, Montana, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island, Maryland, Vermont, New Mexico and Hawaii have also called for the ruling to be overturned."

Hopefully enough people in those states and others will stand together to get Citizens United over turned.
05:10 PM on 05/01/2013
If Congress proposses an Amendment change/add it requires a two-thirds vote in both houses to pass/change the Amendment: 67 Senators and 282 Representatives./ So it says in Article 5. Good luck.

The difference between Citizens United and Organizing for Action is what, exactly? One is conservative based, and one is progressive? President Obama would be hard pressed now to publicly oppose the organization, despite what We the People think.
