Obama has been vicious with whistle blowers after campaigning for the presidency on saying how important they are to a free society etc.  His double talk about whistle blowers is the same with regard to his stand on medical marijuana and then his vicious actions through his justice department hounding and attacking medical marijuana dispensaries while president. In the end,  Obama is just another  Read More...

It certainly seems to me that the lawmakers who are crowing the loudest, are the ones who've been profiting from the Military-Industrial Complex most directly for the past fifty years.

Officially, these programs don't exist. The #CLASSIFIED# Trillion dollars (with a "T") that they cost us, officially aren't being spent.

But, we certainly see their effects, as the REST of our Government is "sequestered" out of existence and there seems to "just be no money at all" for .. say .. the "health care for everyone" program that we THOUGHT we were voting for when we elected Barak Obama.

Oh, no. We must, instead, start another War somewhere. (Syria will do nicely: they have WM.. I mean, chemical weapons .. you know.) A never-ending number of wars that never end. A perpetual "state of war" that transforms the Office of the President into the Office of the Imperial Commander. Spending on "Imperial roads to nowhere." War for War's Own Sake.

Better idea: go crack open almost any book on the Fall of the Roman Empire. In their day, the Italians ruled the world as they knew it. Today, they're an atrophied peninsula again. History repeats itself. Repeat: History Repeats Itself. No nation is immune.

Interesting they are not hurling their fury at Booz Allen , the corporation that allowed mr Snowden to carry off the so called crime of allowing Americans to know what billions of dollars of their tax dollars are going for, while schools, libraries, parks, infrastructure wither.

Booz Allen's billions in contracts remain intact and I haven't heard one bad word said about why they were paying a high school drop out six figures to perform supposedly highly classified work.

I would prefer hearing the Senators debate the Constitutionality of the surveillance state that they are complicit in creating, instead of trying to distract us with their meaningless statements about what other countries should or should not do... Aside from ratification of treaties, they have no role to play in foreign relations. They need to step away from the microphone and get back to work.

A debate about the surveillance state? But, that would involve thinking, reasoning and constructing logical arguments in a calm atmosphere of debate.

It's mentally easier to just focus their wrath on an individual (no stance on the morality of his actions intended).

is it "wise" to employ contractors in area like national security or war zones ?

wondering at what cost is tracking phone #'s dialed a valid tradeoff .....

is having calling patterns ever worth preventing a terror act that cost 100 lives...1000 lives...

just asking..

krr02, how easily we Americans give up our rights to "feel safe". Thousands die each year because of gun violence, thousands of people lost their homes because of Wall Street corruption, the selling of the debts (repackaged, sliced and diced) to other countries which caused them great financial distress), Americans dying because they can't afford health care, millions of dollars being siphoned from public schools to go to charter schools, etc., etc.

patches...i agree....

but obviously our government "chooses" (thank you T-bags) to ignore every valid issue you raise...this ultimately our job is to vote the obstructionists out....

BUT..if it is true that only calling patterns are tracked...and if it HAS saved
attacks...and "feeling safe" turned into "being safer"...

do i really care if NSA knows who i call or who calls me?....

if some assurance only THAT data was monitored...

i guess it just boils down to trusting our government...and with the current make-up of folks in washington....that seems illogical

i am wrestling with this issue ....

biggest story in our nation

and there are those
who would like to make it about one man instead of the 300 million plus american men and women not to mention the rest of the world :)
talk about minimizing some thing of great importance

talk about dumbing down the nations intelligence as a whole

Booz Allen gets 99% of it's contracts from the U.S government , making it welfare queen extradonaire. In addition there is a revolving door between administration and high government officials and Booz Allen emplyments , making quite a conflict of interest.

If Booz Allen wants a super contract , it merely has to offer the job to a government official to administrate and the contact is assured

Save some fury for the illegal spying on Americans at a cost of 80,000,000,000 dollars. They all have way too much money to play with.

In matters of national security anyone who leaks classified info has committed treason
Anyone who prints reports or disseminates classified information has committed treason .
Penalty - hard labior 2o years minimum.
That would end the leakers.

So our leaders are outraged that they have been caught taking away the freedoms we have fought and died for since America first began. Now they want to deflect the issue. The world and this country truly are what we make them. Is this leadership really good enough for our country? Is making us safe from terrorists really worth the end of a citizens expectation of privacy?

There are certain programs that should be overseen by congress and
not made public info if they can cause the death of Americans by being
made public.
08:44 AM on 06/24/2013
So they say.
03:49 PM on 06/24/2013
This is not one of those cases. This is our tyrant getting caught doing something that should have the entire American public calling for his head. What I don't understand is why so many so called Americans seem to think it is just fine that our freedoms are being taken away.

Everyone, turn of TV news. It is just propaganda full of split of a second subliminal messages that make you think the way government want you to think. David Gregory think, that job of a journalist is to repeat what government wants to say. Stalin and Hitler would have loved Gregory.
The real criminals and traitors is our government who constantly lies to us.

Hey Schumer, lets remember his "government oppression tour," began in America. Maybe if the US embraced whistle blowers and rewarded them they way candidate Obama said we should, he wouldn't have had to leave his home.
08:01 AM on 06/24/2013
Why are we listening to the criminals that make up our Congress? Snowden is more of a Patriot than any one of the phony people that make up our legislators. These people make Millions off of inside trading deals and pass laws that help them make even more money from their investments....Feinstein and her Husband!!!! We no longer have a system that brings justice to our citizens. We need to stop buying into their ranting about how Snowden is a criminal and focus on what Snowden revealed.....our Government is illegally spying on us...they are the criminals!!

Seriously.... Russia does not 'give a shxx' what the US wants or thinks........ next with the policies that the US has had over the last decade we are in no position to demand anything from the world community......... between starting two wars, GITMO, torture, drones etc..(all surrounded by lies)... ignoring the international community concerns......

Most countries I am certain do not see Snowden as a threat but someone how is 'ratting' out the 'evil' empire........
07:42 AM on 06/24/2013
Congress is just angry that Snowden's approval rating is much, much higher than theirs.
